This revelation made my last week. I've been switching amongst the 11 albums I put on my CDR and loving it. I've even rediscovered some old underappreciated faves like the last Sigur Ros record which I now realize is epic.
mp3 & wma, not mp3pro.
Correction -- There's no mp3pro decoder built into the stock MINI head unit in models 2005 & later that play mp3 and wma.
it'll probably play mp3pro files, but not at the full sample rate.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mp3PRO --> "Any mp3 player can play mp3PRO files but they will be played at half the intended sample rate."

Took a MP3 CD with MP3Pro files on it to my dealer today. They sound fine but I am no audiophile. I am sure there was some sampling loss at the high end but my SC will fill that in. I just want to groove to a little Mamas and Papas, Eagles and the like. Hey I blew my eardrums out in the late sixties.
So if you are not to picky on your music you can cram about twenty or so albums on a single CD. Ignorance is bliss.
