How many miles should I expect on a mini I ordered from the factory?

Hello everyone,
Thanks so much for welcoming me to the forum.

I have a question. How many miles is "normal" for a new mini to have that I ordered from the factory? I called the dealer and they said it would have around 10 or 12 miles on it. They said this was the average based on it being moved on and off the truck and the inspections that they do at the dealership. Does this seem like a lot? I have seen posts here that say the Mini shouldn't have more than a 2 or 3 miles on it. I ordered my from South Bay Mini and I hear they are a good dealership. Should I be concerned about these miles?

Thanks in advance for the info. I really like this site.

Tim

The one I bought in June had 4 miles at delivery. It really depends on how big the dealership is and how much it was driven at the port, at the VDC, and the dealer (moving from the truck to make ready, wash rack, showroom, etc). I wouldn't worry about 10. That sounds reasonable.

The Mazda we just bought had 12 miles on it and I don't think anything happened in those 12 miles that would keep me from wanting it.

Relax, and enjoy your new MINI.

It really does depend on the dealer. At my dealer, our Mini's come into a seperate patrolled lot, and are checked in there. We then pick them up from that lot and bring them to the actual dealer. Mileage varies from how far they are driven at the port and from the dealer, and around to detail, etc. No worries! Enjoy the great car!

Mine has a production date of 06/06, and the dealer had it for only one week before I purchased it. I took delivery of my Cooper S with 24 miles showing on the odometer.

For many MINIs about 4 to 14 miles is common. I think mine had 11 miles on it.

Those MINIs that are ordered specifically for a buyer are going to have minimal miles, I never see anyone test driving any MINIs that are already paid or spoken for.

Only the demos or on the lot MINIs get more miles from test drives.

Usually the dock areas are fairly close to drive or the cars go by truck.

8 miles on our new Cooper. My 2003 MCS had about the same . . .

But what everyone should do is get into a lengthy argument about how they need to extend your warranty for an additional 8-10 miles due to the mileage on the odometer.

Yea, mine had 14 on the odo when I picked it up. Like what was said above, it really depends on the dealership.. they have to gas it up too. ;]

Hey timsmini, when I ordered my bmw in socal, it had 3 miles on it. But I was very specific about who, what and why they were driving my car. My friends ordered a car from SB, and it's miles were pretty low, like 6. IMO, if I order car and it has over 10 miles, I want to know why. There may be a justified reason. I just want to know why. But, I also ask to see the paperwork from the VDC. Just to make sure there isn't any accidents, etc that I am not informed about. See, I don't need a MINI to be OCD... it just comes naturally!

I ordered my car from SB. They seem to treat you right. When is your car due in?

Hey Climbergirl,
My PW/MCS is supposed to be here at the end of September or very early October. Thanks for the info. I hope South Bay MINI turns out to be a good dealership. So far they seem nice.

Only to YOU, only to you, it's pretty standard.
