New MCS owner purchased 7/24/06 || How Long Do i have to wait?

hi all,
i just signed all the papers on Monday the July 24th 2006 FINNALY. I am 20 years old and well i just bought my new first car on my own. I had been really intrested in the mini Cooper S ever since High schoool years back in 2003. Well this month i finnaly had saved enough to step into the dealer and order my fav car. I live in NY so i want something unique.
I just finalzed my papers with the dealer. I was given a production number right away on monday. My dealer told me i should expect my car in late august but today is almost friday already and i still see no progress of the car.... lol i am really getting worried because i cnat wait too long.

My question is How long do i have to wait?

I called and asked MINI and they said i should expect my car around late september... thats like a month later whats going on????

I also have a question regarding the difference in driving a Stick or Automatic??? I personlly like STICK and I love manual shift but my friend also ordered one last week and he is getting automatic. I keep advising him not to get auto instead get the stick.... What do you guys think?

MY CAR SPECS that I ordered:
06 Mini Cooper S
Premium Package
Sports Package
Center Arm Rest
Royal Grey Color w/ Solver Roof and mirrors.

**** I didn't get lots of things cause i could not afford too much, this was my new car and i only had little to spend....
but i am happy with what i am getting?
what you guys think?

Good for you! If you really enjoy driving then the stick is the way to go. You get to decide when to shift with the tach.

Drive it safe, treat it right! (With a smile on your face)

Wow, excellent choice for a first or any car. I have 2 with 1 on the way. See my sig! My new one is on the Liberty, set to dock in NYC tomorrow! I ordered 7/7/06 and got an immediate production #. I should get him around the middle of August IF everything stays smooth. I've been lucky so far as every step has fallen into place as soon as it was possible. One of the delays you face is the 2 week (I think 2 but maybe 1 week) MINI plant shutdown in part, to start the changeover to the 07 model. I'm sure the production of your MINI will be competing for space with the '07 which they are starting to produce. You're still better off than some like on the west coast who are waiting 6-12 months for their MINI's. As far as tracking your MINI, 866ASKMINI (human not automated) will give you the best updated info during production and then track your ship. You can find other tracking info in the 1st gear forum here and there is a faq with good info on tracking your order on the MINI2 forum. Good Luck and happy ANTICIPATION!

Now I know I am going to order from out of state. For the first time, I feel that being on the left coast is the wrong coast! 6-12 mo's? ewww. I am patient, but not that patient. congrats on your new purchase!!!

6-12 is what I've heard on these boards. Please do your own checking as waits, if any, depend on the dealer. Good luck in your hunt!

I ordered mine on 6/12 and I drove it out of Sandia Mini on 7/29. I think I might have lucked out though, my order was assigned against a car that was just a few days from production. More useful to you might be this: My car finished production on 6/22 and I drove it home on 7/29. So about 37 days to haul it to port, ship it, process it, ship it, install a bunch of stuff, stripe it and vacuum it. Since you live on the East coast, your boat trip will be a bit faster so call it 30-ish days. Once it's arrived in town and your local dealer is processing it, I can assure you the waiting actually becomes more painful!

If you can drive a stick, you will really enjoy driving the MCS stick. I drove a Jeep Wrangler a while back and it all came back to me right away. See https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=75082 for my report on the MCS engine's power. The only stick-related challenge I have is that the Jeep's first gear involved a big shove to the left & up. If I'm not careful in the Mini and give a big shove left instead of the little dainty 1-inch push, I scare the crap out of myself and the car behind me when my car goes backwards. Talk about pushing the clutch through the floorboards...
