Sunroof malfunction
Sunroof malfunction
Hello,
I'm new to this forum, but I would like to ask for some advice regarding my sunroof. I have a 2004 JB MCS and sometimes when I push the sunroof button to automatically have it close when it's half way open, the sunroof slides the other way and actually opens more. THe sunroof is sliding the opposite way i want it to when i push the button once so it automatically closes. IS there anyone that could tell me a way to oil the sunroof or any other alternatives. THanks a bunch.
Ken

Hey Ken,
Sounds like they changed things around with the controls or something. Maybe there's a malfunction in the button. Or maybe there's something you were unaware of with the button. There four unique places the button can go.
1. Normal rest place, in center.
2. Up straight to the sky.
3. Forward, pressing towards front of car.
4. Back, pressing towards rear of car.
2. Pressing directly up, when the sunroof is completely closed, will put it into the tilted open position
3a. Pressing forward then releasing, when the sunroof is open but not tilted, will auto close all the way closed.
3b. Pressing forward then releasing, when sunroof is in tilted position, will close for the duration of the press.
4. Pressing rearward then releasiong, when sunroof is open or in tilted, should auto open all the way.
Pressing button into any direction while auto-opening or auto-closing, should stop the auto-move function, allowing you to stop at any position.
I'm going by memory here. Anyone feel free to correct me.
As far as oil, I don't know of any points to oil. However, the dealership used a heavy grease on mine when it was making noise. The runners and rollers had the stuff caked on. I think they overlubed it.
