Hello everyone!

I finally purchased my first mini. It is a used, mint condition 05 MCC, automatic (don't shoot me plz) PH with black top, premium pkg and lots and lots of chrome .

I bought it off ebay and was actually marketed as BLUE color, when I arrived to pick it up I thought "that is purple!" lol. I called miniusa to verify the color code and yup, Purple Haze it was, since our last name is Hendrix we cracked up and figure this car was meant to be for us.

I'm glad to be a new member of this community and look forward to getting to know all of you.

Congratulations on the new ride. What part of Texas to you park it?

If you're up north, you should come check out the local forum as well: www.metroplexMINI.org . There's also the HMMS (Houston MINI Motoring Society) but their site will bring you to the same board and www.cooperspeed.com as well. Both the north Texas and Houston groups do regular meets, so maybe we'll meet up with you.

Welcome from a fellow Texan! Live in Austin, but I've passed through that way a dozen or so times.

Congrats on the Mini, it's a looker!

Hey Doogs! I lived in Austin from '92 to '04 and I have a love/hate relationship with Austin: wanna go back so bad, and wanna stay away so bad (hey I'm a woman afterall ) I miss the eclectic athmosphere the most, but I don't miss sitting in traffic on Mopac on my way back home to SW Austin (Oak Hill) and it just keeps on growing! I go back every couple of months or so and I consider it my hometown.

Your mini fits right in I bet!

Small world - my wife and I actually moved from north Austin to Oak Hill last year! We're in Travis Country West, just off Southwest Parkway, if you know the area.

I know what you mean about the traffic...I avoid Mopac like the plague during my commute (South First is my new best friend)...but rush hour in Austin is a nice weekend drive next to what Dallas and Houston face!

Travis Country, yes...in fact my best friend just moved there last month, I love SW Austin!!! I lived in the Oakland Village, west of Escarpment, south of Davis Ln, right next to Circle C...

Austin taxes, YIKES! I had forgotten, last bill I paid was $7K+ and that was 2 years ago, now I pay $3500 for same size house on 4 acres in a setting similar to Wimberly or Dripping Springs (very wooded) my kids love going fishing just down the road and being allowed to roam freely through the neighborhood and exploring the woods

Mom misses Central Market and all the different restaurants though... In my itty bitty town Wendy's and McDonald's are the "faire du jour" lol, Schlotskis didn't make it!.. In life we always have to compromise!

One great thing though is that I have the Arkansas mountains 3 hrs away, Dallas 3 hr, Florida beaches 9 hrs, etc, etc... AND since I commute to Texarkana I have a good excuse to drive my new MINI now

I live in Travis Country too! The Oak Hill area is really booming now with the new Costco, 24 Hour Fitness, massive HEB @ Escarpment, and tons of new strip malls. It's lots some of the old south Austin charm, but it's definitely a lot more convenient now.

Congrats on the new Mini! (I'm still hunting for a good deal on ebay)

Yep...more conveniences going in every day, but still only a hop, skip, and a jump from South Congress, South First, Town Lake, Zilker...

And the Hill Country! I foresee a lot more day trips to Fredericksburg, Llano, Marble Falls and the like once I get the Mini!

Best of luck on eBay...and if you see a Royal Grey MCS show up on SW Parkway sometime in August/September, that'd be me...
