I have a MINI in my future...

...and I really can't wait.

My brain tells me to wait for the 2007 model, but every other part of my body is not listening.

Nice to meet everyone - any and all advice is appreciated.

Welcome to NAM!

My brain told me to buy a 2006. I really like the supercharger better than turbos, plus I was worried about the reliability of the new engine. I've had my 06 MCS since December & I'm glad I didn't wait. Good luck with your decision.

Welcome, Anglophile!!! Once you get bit by the bug it is hard to think of much else, right? Some NAMers were far more patient than I, waiting a year or two. I had to jump right in!!!!

Well, I have read the threads on the pros and cons of waiting for the 2007 - my real fear is that I'll order the '06 and then really want a feature of the '07. I'm not crazy about the Turbo engine, but who knows what else may be new?

It's also a matter of timing. I'd like to build up a bigger down payment so that I can get a better interest rate. My credit is...well...

That said, I haven't been able to think about anything but a MINI - I've configured it so many times that I know the options better than the dealer.

Anybody know when they will stop taking custom '06 orders?

Welcome!!

I believe that MINI will stop taking orders sometime in August, I'm not
positive though.

It might take a few years on the new model to get the "bugs" out, so it
depends on how long you can wait.

Good luck in your decision! You will be so happy with an 06 if you can
manage it!

As you've mentioned you've read all the pros and cons of ordering an 06 vs. an 07.

I had the same dilemma before I ordered and settled it in my head by saying I wanted one now and on the most settled and sorted out model available.

That being said my personal counter-argument is look at all the original first year Mini owners still around. Yes, they have some problems I won't have but most of them give the impression they are having a blast still and love their cars. Mini has stood by their cars fairly well and no doubt will do so with any problems found in the 07.

It's all a personal choice though I think your credit reasoning is well thought out.

Go check out www.motoringfile.com . Search around. There are several articles on what's new for 07. Maybe that will help you decide

Get a 2006 MINI and then, if you want, get a 2008, allowing for the 2007's bugs to be worked out. Why delay the immense pleasure of motoring in a MINI?

According to my MA, they stop taking orders around mid-August or when the slots fill up, whichever comes first. They will be closing portions of the factory for changing to '07 production around late-August I heard. I would recommend, if getting an '06, to put in your order no later than mid-July if you want a slot... You can always schedule it's production to a later date (like I am) so that you have a slot, but won't get the car until you want it.
