Just picked it up!!

Picked up my new MCS JCW today from Keelor Mini!!!! A great experience and I cannot plug Dave Delaney enough. He made the process vey enjoyable and hassle free. What a great car, but you folks know that already. That supercharger wine is brilliant as is the exhaust burbble. Spec is as follows:

Chilli Red w.Silver roof and "U" bonnet stripe
Carbon fiber side view mirror caps
Sport
Cold Weather
H/K (looking at possible icelink+ or Dice install to work with the iPod)
JCW Engine package - oh yes!
Chrono
MFSW

Considering the JCW suspension package as the rear felt a little light and floaty or twitchy in some ywisty roads and corners here in upstate NY - even with keeping it under 4.5K rpms. Wondering if that might button it down a bit. Any suggestions? I am coming from a '98 VW GTi VR6 w/over 100K miles on it. This is a massive change. I love it and cannot wait for the drive back to L.I.

Oh yeah, picks will follow.

Woohoo! I'm part of the community. Think I'm gonna go outside and take another look at her.

This statement alone is enough to make you part of this community!! Welcome aboard and congrats on your new MINI!!

As for the rear twitchiness I have no clue but I'd say drive it a bit and see where things settle. Depending on how you like to drive, I'm sure the suspension kit would help, but so may other tweaks. I imagine throwing that much power around on a relatively light car almost necessitates a certain amount of dialing in.

Congratualtions and that is one beautiful car in your sig. I would appreciate any input you would have regarding the suspension, thanks.
Enjoy the miles. It's gonna take me a bit longer to do the beakin. I'm finding proper discipline is difficult.

I have a close setup to yours, JCW w/stock suspension. I noticed the light feeling rear end when I bought it as well, wondered if they had softened up the suspension again for 2006. I've had the car for just over a month now and having just got back from the Dragon, I can say I didn't have any of that sensation.....in fact, the harder I cornered, the harder the back felt like it dug in! No problems on the Dragon and I attacked it pretty hard! Give it a little while to break in. Enjoy the car, this is the best car I have ever had!!

Congrats and welcome to the community!

900 miles in 36 hours...
the JCW suspension seems very good. Im especially impressed with its "in traffic" manner. Not bad at all, very stable, taunt, but not overbearing. Once you load it up, it grips very well. Im coming from a larger and heavier car, and I think the turn in on the MINI's is very agressive...but I can get used to its go kart style. Very little body roll. Not really had it in too many twisties yet, but Ill have more details this weekend..

Thank you for the welcome. One of the many things that initially drew me to the car was this commujnity.

Have been away for a while so I have not had a chance to put many miles on the car - 475 so far. Every time I drive the car though, I get a big a grin. Power is surprising and turn-in is great. Brakes are strong (although a pinch more feel would be appreciated). Still feeling that light feeling every once in a while. I will give it a bit more break in and see how it goes. Speaking of the break in, ugh! It is extremely hard to adhere to. Just at 4.5K rpm that supercharger starts singing and it gets a little intoxicating. All of a sudden I can't lift my right foot. Had a lot of highway miles to cover on the way home and varying the engine speed - shifting up and down/speeding up and slowing down was work. All is forgiven now. I love my car.

A couple of pics:

What a little beauty! Welcome and happy motoring!! On my aftermarket-modded MCS (15% Alta pulley, Unichip, Milltek exhaust, K&N Typhoon CAI, Denzo Irridium Plugs), I just got the HR Compound Rear Sway bar at the Dragon and the difference is amazing! You may want the JCW suspension bits!

Beaut photos, and first of that combo color I've seen.

Re: JCW and Dave... The day I ordered my MINI, Keeler was swamped, and Dave was busy doing something, so he sat me down with some other guy to order. Dave and I had talked a lil bit about what I was doing, colors and whatnot. I was beginning to do the actual order process, Dave was ducking out, and told the guy we were working with "not to forget the JCW." Well don't you know the guy actually put it down on the order slip, and it was only till we were going over the list a final time that I found out!

I would have loved to, but the $$$ was not in my cards.
