Where is my MINI?

OK, per previous post, I have no production or VIN number. I was told that my MINI was docking on the West coast on Wednesday. Why is it going to the West Coast if it's being delivered in Indiana? So, basically, I'm lost. No clue. Anyone have any idea how long it will take? It was supposed to be picked up on Wednesday, the 3rd, but clearly that isn't happening.

Wow that just seem right at all. I'd think that a MINI going to Chicago would come from the right coast not the left coast. Have you called the good folks at 866-askmini? Good luck, I'm sure you'll have it soon.

You should have gotten at least a production number from your MA.

Somethings not right here. When did you order your mini?

Forever ago; actually, March 7. Everything but the actual pricing has been a f#$%*&^% disaster. I'm truly fed up with this. My MA claimed that since they ordered the car to spec two days (2!) before I signed the paperwork that they could not release VIN or give me a production number until the car was loaded on the boat. Guess what, the boat's in the farking water and still no VIN or anything. I'm tempted to bring a bat to pick up the car and "Casino" this guy.

Thanks for the kind words. Since I don't have a production number, I don't think they would be much help. I'll try that though, and see how far I can get.

Consequently, I know exactly where my MINI is, onboard the UNDINE @ N 47°36', W 046°54'. I also know that the winds there are 24 knots, the air and water temperatures are both 2.2° C, and the barometric pressure is 1030.4 mb. I just hope they are looking out for icebergs!
Rub it in, why don't you...

I ordered mine to spec on March 10, with the actual order going into MINI on the following Monday, March 13th. I never signed anything until I actually picked up the car on April 26th. I received an email from MINI on March 14th with the production number and starting my tracking the same day.

This sounds like a serious load of BS this dealerhsip is feeding you. Time to play hard ball with these guys and get them to be honest with you. As far as I know all D&R orders would go through the Charleston SC VPC. Although mistakes happen, shipping your car to the West Coast VPC would be a truly major screwup.

Several things with your story don't add up... and that usually spells trouble.

Best Regards-
Randy

OTOH, you will likely be driving your car within a few days, while I've still got 3-4 weeks to wait. So don't feel too bad.

i'd laugh if it wasn't so close to home. D&R seems to have some issues lately. good luck, there is NO reason they can't provide you the information other than, well, you probably already figured that out. why would a dealer spec car be delivered to the left coast for an INDY destination?

***UPDATE***

Hey, all, guess what?!?!!?! NO MINI!!! My delivery date of May 3 has come and is about to go, and surprisingly (feel the sarcasm) no MINI. Oh, and guess what else? They don't know where it is and D&R is still saying that is should arrive on THE WEST COAST this week.

So, it looks like I'll be starting my new career sans MINI.

Not a happy camper...

Hey Mayim,

Well first of all, all MINI's come to this country from the west coast. Period. that's just the way it is. Now more Specifically, they arrive in PORT HUENEME, California. Now, I happen to work at that port because its part of a Navy base that I work at, and I will tell you this: Yes, a ship full of MINIs and other BMWs did dock at port hueneme; not today but actually tuesday. So rest assured you Car is now, more than likely, in this country. For the next week though, It'll be sitting in a warehouse where the rest of the customs stuff is taken care of and it's also where they install any other options you asked for that weren't done at the factory. From there it will get put on a truck and sent to your dealer... It's all just a matter of time my friend.

Not to be negative, but you are wrong. Boats dock on the East Coast (NJ and SC). Those that dock on the West Coast have to go through the Panama Canal. There is no good reason why an Indiana-bound car should be unloaded on the West Coast.

Thank you for your kind words...I can only hope my car is somewhere in this hemisphere.

Huh? I believe there are 3 ports of entry.

Somewhere in New Jersey
Charleston SC
Port Hueneme

Hey, hey! Thanks, bud. Yeah, the phone has been ringing off the hook since Gabe's shout out...not really. It was surreal listening to those guys talk about it. I guess those West Coast dealers found out about it and are holding my MINI ransom...

My apologies for the misinformation earlier, I did research it and found that I am a complete fool. However, If your car is coming from the west coast like they told you, then it should allready be here, because that long a$$ convoy of MINI's leaving the Port tuesday wasn't a mirrage. Either way good luck and my apologies again for the misinfo.

If I were you I would be too frustrated to work with that dealer anymore. I'd probably pick a well respected east coast dealer, call them up and tell them the whole story, and place an order with them for a new car. It would take another 6 weeks of waiting but then you could always cancel if this car ever showed up.

The whole story sounds so weird compared to everyone else's experience. I wouldn't know what to expect if it actually showed up.

I hope things work out for you. In the end, you'll be really happy with the car that you get despite this horrible delivery experience.

Trust me, the thought has crossed my mind, but I simply cannot wait another 6-8 weeks, so the worst case scenario would be to buy off the lot somewhere, which means I won't get every option I want. I informed them today that they have until Friday to either deliver or at least tell me for certain where the heck the car actually is on this planet.

Nothing about this situation makes any sense to me whatsoever...

I know, right?

What problems are you referring to with D&R? It would make me feel a little better if I wasn't the first person who has had to go through this...

Well, the Orion Leader is hitting Port Hueneme tomorrow or Friday. We are following it in another thread. Perhaps this is your boat.
