Greetings and a Question...
Greetings to all. I am a new Mini owner. I just purchased a 2003 MCS in dark silver with Alta cold air intake and Alta tuned exhaust. Yesterday, I put Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S tires on and am on the way to do my duty at the DMV. I have been following this board for a couple of weeks and have found it extremely helpful. Thanks muchly to everyone who is contributing to the knowledge base.
My car came with HK audio and an iPod adapter, terminated in the glove box. I do not know which model it is, but I would imagine it went in pretty soon after the car's initial purchase. I have been having a hard time figuring out the radio as the manual was missing. I was wondering if there is somewhere to download the manual for the HK as well as one for the iPod adapter/interface. The previous owner told me that I needed to create special Mini playlists on the iPod, which I tried, but the head unit only recognized the first one. I thought they were supposed to recognize multiple lists corresponding to the 5 or 6 station presets when in iPod mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for the great source of information. Every time I am on this forum, my wife asks me what the Mini needs now. Poor thing.

This Apple FAQ about the BMW Adapter may help with the playlist issue. See Q/A # 14. They need to be named slightly different (MINI1, MINI2, MINI3, MINI4, MINI5) but the link should give you some good background information. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93879#5

Anybody ever get a manual for the radio boost cassette???
I have the tape player, but my car came with the radio boost CD manual.
The dealer said they didn't have any cassette version manuals when I asked about it.

I found that Apple site most informative. My problem was primarily one of naming conventions and not knowing what RDM means on the radio display. Now, I need to get my iPod back with my Mac and reprogram the playlists using the proper names. To tell the truth, most of my iPodding is just shuffling through the library, anyway.
I have just met the local dealer's service folks and they seem accommodating and competent. I think I'm going to enjoy this car. The prospect of $4.00 gasoline isn't nearly so daunting as when my daily driver was a F-250 diesel pickup...
