Yep, lived and worked there from 1989 - 1998. Was getting to expensive to live there and so we decided to follow some friends to Colorado. My wife says that if we ever get rich (yea right) we are moving back. There are a lot of Californians moving here for the cheaper houses. Weather is different and we do get the 4 seasons but they are very mild. Even in winter. Snow never stays around long enough to enjoy. <grin> Lots of stuff to do here just like CA.
You left right around the time I was moved down from the OC/Seattle. I have only visited CO, but it looked nice when I was there.

YIPPIE!!!! Finally some word. Miniusa says at VDC and estimated delivery is May 27th (This Sat).

Does this mean at the dealer? If so, I think the earliest we will get it is middle of next week. Monday is a Holiday. I assume everything is closed (dealership, etc).
WOOHOO on your delivery date of 27 May!

For my MINI, this was the ETA to the dealer, but mine actually arrived 2 days earlier as MINIUSA is always a couple of days late in updating. I would suggest you call your MA to be sure. Who knows, your car may be there on Friday. The Dealer does the final programming on your car, e.g. follow me home lights, etc., washes it and has stuff like Lojack installed. So and you don't have any of that stuff to add, ask them to do the programming and wash as soon as it arrives and drive it home Sat AM. According to my MA, it only takes about 20 minutes to do the programming.

[quote] I need to start my drive home as early in the day as possible if I'm going to get to my first stop (Boise) by nightfall. [quote]

Since you will be driving a MINI you will have good traffic karma

Still trying to sell my old car - how much I sell it for determines if I can add a few more accessories. Waiting on that to order the chrome grille & driving lights.
What are you selling? If it is an original 1957 Porsche Speedster that your are selling really cheap, I will take it off your hands

If I had one of those, I'd never sell it. There's one in my neighborhood - black, mint. I drool everytime I see it. I'm selling a nice, practical Mazda3.

SDDAVE you are correct. I just checked this morning before work (5am) and MiniUSA says AT THE DEALER!! Originally had said May 27th but now says arrival May 24th. 1866ASKMINI says in transit. As far as I'm concerned, once the car leaves England, ASKMINI is worthless. MiniUSA is always 4-6 days late in reporting the status of the car.

Time to get in touch with MA. FINALLY IT'S HERE!! Whew!

Woohoo! I received it....

Okay not my MINI, but my first accessory! I received the Euro parcel shelf from Out Motoring.

I'm waiting for rubber 'S' floor mats, grocery bag holder, rear bumper protector and chrome hood scoop from Classic Mini.

Later All!

WOOHOO domc Go pick that puppy up!

M1, Minitee, and everyone else, the 31 is just next week and cars seem to be getting through VDC fast, so hang in there!

I just picked up my MINI today and drove it home from LA. It only had 8 miles on it when I picked it up and so far have put on 120 and plan to go out motoring tonight.
My first impression was WOW...this thing turns faster than a grocery cart. My second impression was OH CRAP, I was not suppose to go past 4900 rpm, this puppy scoots!

Just thought I'd post a note to my fellow week-16ers that sfodoug's MA said the Centaurus Leader has an eta now of 29/May... two days earlier. If that holds up, I think the odds of my getting my MINI the week of the 5th to the 9th just went way up vs. the following week. Here's hoping for a smooth VDC transition for all of our MINIs!

Darn it!! Just got a reply to my email from my MA today. Car was suppose to be here on Saturday (today).

"Sometimes what happens is MINI will kick cars into our inventory when it gets closer to the end of the month to make their numbers look good. As far as I can check is that it is scheduled to come in today, but the trucking company will not deliver on a weekend or holiday. I will be able to check on Tuesday what the status is."

So I was hoping for sometime this coming week. May still happen but I think I'll plan next weekend or somewhere around the 5th of June or something. Geeezzz!!!

LOL... I worked somewhere that would try something similiar. Its a dodgy accounting practice imo, but I'm not surprised.

Sorry to hear about the delay domc... chin up!

Anyone on the Centaurus Leader hear from their MA on the status of their MINI lately? Someone in week 18 heard that their MINI would be unloaded on the 29th (yesterday) so I'm wondering what the status is. OL & MINIUSA both say In Transit for me.

I was emailing with my MA today and she did not mention it. The ship might be at the port, but just not able to unload. I know of another NAM member who's ship last month spent 4 days waiting to unload. I'm hoping that is not the case.... I did see on the www.sdmis.org (Port of San Diego) website this weekend that the CL might be headed to Long Beach before PH. It kept switching back and forth between Long Beach and TBN. Also after the CL left San Diego it dropped off the AIS Live website http://aisfree.aislive.com/Influx.as...h%20West%20USA (see attached image).

That's all I got.....

Looks like some cars on the Centaurus Leader have already been released from the VDC. Our time is nigh!

Mine is still in the VDC, but hopefully it gets on its way soon.

Oh how I hate the internet! Instant info/anxiety!

Why are the week 18 cars released before our week 16 cars?

Sounds like LIFO... Last In, First Out. Makes sense from a ship unloading standpoint, but is a bummer all the same.

Yeah, I know. I'm just trying to get my post count up!

Do I dare call the trucking company? I'd hate to cause the trucking company to stop taking our calls. My MA must have been off then last couple of days.

Posted this on Week 18 also.

Finally got hold of my MA. My MINI is scheduled to arrive in San Francisco on June 5th. So I'm probably not on the same truck as the MINIs heading further north. My MA is trying to get the MINI prepped, have the accessories installed so I can pickup on the 7th. I don't want to pick up the MINI in the evening, since it'll be harder to check for any damage, etc. Otherwise due to a vacation to Yosemite and other scheduling conflicts I will need to wait unit Saturday 6/17 to take delivery.

Why, why do I feel like it's hurry up and wait!

Our Mini has arrived

YIPPIE!! finally got it last night.

Just to recap:

Ordered April 3rd
Made on April 25th
Got on the boat April 27th
Arrived in California May 20th
In the garage May 31st

Just short of two months.

Specs: MC, Liquid Yellow, Chrome interior, Athracite Dash, Ipod stuff, White Top/Mirrors, Sport Package, Space Grey Seats, CVT.

When we ordered the MA said there were no Cloth seats available because of supplier bailed. After reading the forums online two days later I found out that it was available again. Wife is very happy with space grey. We also just made it with our order for Liquid Yellow that is now discontinued.

So far with 100 miles we can't get the grins off of our faces. This is the wifes car and she won't let me drive it. <Grin> I'll add some more comments after I get some time behind the wheel.

domc, Nice! I like the yellow!

Yeah, the mini van is just the spare. I sold an '05 G35 Sedan to fund the MINI! Just a few more days, hopefully. Depends on how fast the dealer can install the driving lights, security system and steering column gauges.

Oh yeah, CHLIPUP is also at the VDC and scheduled for 06/07/2006 delivery!!!!
