I just checked Track Your Mini and the status had changed from "On Order" to "Scheduled for Production". I called Ask Mini. The status on my Mini has changed to "In Production. Estimated Completition Date, May3." I know this still equates to Week 18 but at least I'm seeing progress.
Also from what I've read elsewhere the estimated completition date is usually stated as the Friday of the production with the car actually being completed some time that week. I wonder if there is any significance to the estimated completion date, May 3, being on a Wednesday. I guess it just amounts to more details to keep me occupied while I wait.

Web site: On order
Automated answer at ASK-MINI: Scheduled for production with no firm production date

Hey does anybody know if you can get them to substitute summer performance run-flats for the stock all-season run-flats on the 16" V-spoke wheels on an MCS?

So this is getting more interesting. Yesterday after learning that my status had changed to "In Production. Estimated Completition Date, May 3", I became curious as to how long it takes to actually assemble a Mini. Yesterday was April 16 and if my Mini was scheduled to be completed on May 3 that would be 17 days later. That seemed like a long time to complete the assembly. So this morning I called Ask Mini and this time spoke to a live person. They told me that production of my Mini had actually started on Friday April 14 and the records indicated a scheduled completition date of May 2. (one day earlier than the automated response). He immediately added that he would expect the car to actually be completed before May 2 since assembly usually takes 6 to 8 days and he was not aware of any problems or planned delays.
So does anyone know what the typical time for assembly of a Mini is? Is it 6 to 8 days with 17 days being unusually long or does it actually take 17 days some times?
Details, details, details...........................

Hey ronburton,
I'm located in nor cal and ordered my MCS @ Long Beach MINI in so cal on 3/31. My MA didn't do anything special that I know of.
I just found out thru ASKMINI that my MCS is in production and scheduled to be completed by 5/2...woooohooo!
Now, I just have to wait for the whole transport thing -- from the looks of the replies on this forum -- what an ordeal.
Can't wait...want my MCS now!!!!!

Week 18
Looks like ours will be built week 18. We are in Portland, OR. Hyper Blue S with all the goodies. We were scheduled for some time in Sept-Oct so are very pleased with the new numbers. Is the Owners lounge slow for you guys?
Hi Rondon! Not good enough though. We need EXACT SPECS!!!
I am so glad I am not the only West Coaster! It seems like we are nothing but. Hopefully right after we get built, we will hop right on to a ship and get working on the toughest 22 days ever!

AndyWSea,
I am in nor cal - SF Bay Area, so I'm a west coaster too! You should call ASKMINI and speak with a live person -- they seem to give more accurate info. I called and just found out I've got an earlier completion date - 5/1, maybe even sooner than 5/1.
I think my MCS will be on the same ship and yours and Rondon.

Yeah, I talked to someone today, and friday and wedsday. They all said that I am week 18 production and that is all that they had. UGH!!! I think this is seriously gonna give me an ulcer. I think when i get home tonight I am using my "MINI PARKING ONLY" Stencil and plastering it all over the garage with bright danger yellow paint!
That seriously sucks AndyWSea...what does your MA say about delivery date?
How long have you've been waiting for your beloved MCS?
Funny, non-MINI folks around me simply can not understand what all the fascination is with the MINI. I tell them to just test drive it and they'll get hooked. I certainly did. Nice to commiserate with you all on this WAITING!

Put me in the same boat, or lack of boat, with AndyWSea. No production date no progress no nothing.
My theory is that they batch together cars of the same color, so maybe the color you pick determines whether you're early or late. Or maybe not.

Well, ASKMINI probably thinks I'm insane because I've just about called them every other day and asked them about my MCS. I just want to know that is being built -- for now -- then I can obsess over the voyage to LA.
I think they group the MINIS by how much options you've added on. Mostly humbly, mine is pretty much stock with a sunroof and PDC.

Allright, so let's get ahead of ourselves!!
After doing a bit of research, I found 4 possible ships that will be leaving in Southampton in May and arriving in Port Hueneme.
Leaving May 3rd, the Maersk Teal, Voyage number ED613-MTE arriving on May 26th.
May I introduce the Maersk Teal:

Leaving May 11th, the Falstaff, Voyage number ED614-FAL arriving on June 3rd.
May I introduce the Falstaff:

Leaving May 18th, the Toledo, voyage number ED615-TDO arriving June 10th.
May I introduce the Toledo:

The Toledo is the WW Lines newest ship, debuting on April 22nd of this year, I believe. It is 20% more fuel efficient then the older cargo liners.
Leaving May 28th, God forbid, the Maersk Tide, ED616-MKT arriving June 20th.
May I introduce the Maersk Tide:

I also checked NYK lines and saw nothing from Southampton to Port Hueneme, so I am hoping it will be one of these ships.
Just needed to do something to pass my hours waiting for this beautiful car.

From recent history, most west coast cars are shipped via NYK, not WW. The NYK website scheduler never showed me any ships, but they seem to leave Southampton every couple of weeks. I just missed one NYK ship, and waited just over two weeks for the next one. Meanwhile, a couple of WW ships came and went. In a number of other order tracking threads I've seen, only one WW ship going to Port Hueneme was reported as having MINIs on it, out of maybe 10 WW ships shown as being scheduled for the PH run in that time span. There is always the possibility of change, and for the better tracking I wish all of us could go via WW ships, but this is has been my observation.
