Which tires? All season or Performance

Looking for the best ride. We have plenty of time to change things. In Portland OR we get very little snow but as you all know lots and lots of rain. Since we are both retired and in our late 60's The track is out of the question. At least in Donna's case.

All season tires are not really great in any particular season. There are trade off's on snow vs dry road driving. If I lived in an area with no or little snow, I would get a good 3 season tire, if in a snowy area, have a second set of snow tires handy for winter time.
A good 3 season tire should perform quite well!

At 58 I'm finding that I need to be a bit gentler with my body frame. You've got a decade on me so it might make sense to go with 16" wheels for a softer ride. Non-runflats would help with this too. I have BF Goodrich Traction T/A, V-rated all-season tires that are also more than adequate on wet roads. Check them out on Tire-Rack's site.

It depends where you live. The seem fine in the rain but with snow not so good.

I just bought an MCS (In October - love the car BTW) with all season tires and the 17 inch wheels. I am REALLY glad we have had a mild winter because even in a couple of inches I have found the all seasons to be not very good. So much so I wish I had selected the high performance tires and purchased winter tires with steel wheels (I will do this for next winter). Note, most MCS's I see here have dedicated snow tires. Anyway, good luck on your purchase and I hope you love the car. It keeps getting better the more I drive it and I cant wait for autocross season to start!

In Portland Or, all-season.

When it rains, you'll know why.
Also, by the way you seem to be describing what you use your car for, you'll will never use the high-performance capabilities of a high-performance tire anywhere its limits. A good high performance all season is more than you'll need.

Which tires

Thanks for all the input. We are going to stick with the all season. Just got an up date on where we are on the waiting list. Weve gone fron 45 to 18. That puts us about 4 months ahead of schedule. Can't wait.
