Hi everybody,

I'm here trying to decide if I want to get an MCS with JCW. I currently drive a Z4 but I think a Cooper S would be more useful and just as fun. Thanks for all your help!

Welcome dobobbs! If you haven't already done so, you might want to see if you can test drive the MCs with and without the JCW. I test-drove a MCS (because it was the only cabriolet they had) and it's probably enough for me.... but I wasn't coming out of a Z4!

I just ordered a JCW this week. The difference that I noticed between the JCW and MCS was that the power came on much sooner (around 2-2500rpm vs 3500rpm) and stronger and then the burst from 4500rpm to redline was noticably stronger. Also, once out on the highway, I felt like the acceleration in 6th was nearly as strong as 5th on the MCS. These are my observations.

ordered my JCW last month. I plan on using it extensivly on the track, but I think that the power delivery and warrenty support of the JCW is what sold me on it.

Im 6 feet and fat, and I have no problem fitting in the mcs....

Actually, the MINI was designed to accommodate drivers up to 6'8" tall. I know many owners who are taller than 6'1" and have experienced no discomfort. Finding one's proper seating position is crucial.

This isn't a problem. The only problem I have is I love my Z4 but a Cooper S would fit my life better.

Thanks for your tips, everybody. I've decided NOT to get the JCW package -- just a basic MCS for commuting and track days. I'll keep the Z4 and sell some other toys to help finance the MINI. It's both a compromise and a little difficult on the pocketbook, but I think it will be worth it. Splitting the driving between the two, and a couple of motorcycles, I should be able to keep their mileage low and have a couple of pristine classic BMWs in the garage when I'm old.

Hey Earl, sounds good. I can see us going to a MINI meet or track day, so perhaps we'll run into each other. My wife doesn't "get" the whole MINI thing yet, but she will.

As for height, I'm a stocky Italian guy, so it's not an issue. As a short guy, you spend your whole life worrying if chicks dig you, but as soon as you get married, you appreciate being able to fit in coach and just about any sports car you desire.

Thats a crock of S***. I am 6'3" and drive a cooper s on a daily basis and it is unbelievably comfortable.

Your name is Beetle Man, you obviously drive a VW Beetle, and therefore you should give no input on this man's car choices.

BobDobbs, dude, get an MCS, buy it, and begin modding with aftermarket. Be careful, it's an addiction.

Nice! The Z4 is a great car, but it's tough as your ONLY car. Does your mom have something else with a back seat?

It's on-order (from MINI of the Hamptons). I went with Pepper White, but almost got silver, like yours. I like the way light bounces off silver, but I like the contrast of the trim on PW -- and I've never had a white car -- but a couple of silver ones.

I actually could have waited on getting another car, for maybe a year. But that would put us into the new MINI model, which I don't know if I want. I'd rather have the last year of this model, based on everything I'm reading.
