I forgot to introduce myself!!

I was so excited about ordering my new Mini yesterday, that I forgot to intoduce myself. My name is Scott, I live just north of Raleigh, NC. I'm 38, married w/2kids. I am a professional pilot by trade.

I've wanted a new Mini since they came out, and now I'm finally getting one!! The wife and kids are almost as excited as I am. I haven't driven a stick in about 5 years, so this will be fun! Cars I've owned in the past include '83 VW Scirocco, '84 Dodge Daytona Turbo, '85 Mazda RX-7 GSL, '90 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo, '00 Chrysler Sebring JX Convertible (now the wifes car).

I've been lurking here on this site for about 8 months, asking questions and learning all that I could before ordering my Mini. What a wonderful place to meet people and discuss Minis. In fact I met two people on this board that let me drive their JCW and modified MCS's! Wow, they let a complete stranger drive their cars!!. What a wonderful and unique bunch of people we are from the rest of the automotive community, and I look forward to joining a couple of clubs and doing a lot of Happy Motoring.

Thanks to all of you who answered my questions. My estimated delivery is mid to late April, so hopefully I'll see a bunch of you at the Dragon!!

Welcome! I need to ask, do you enjoy your job? I'm a student out here in Purdue in the Professional Pilot track. I've been flying for sometime, but never had a chance to finish up my Private and now I'm about 2-3 flights away from the Practical. I just love flying, why I ever thought I could be an aeronautical engineer confounds me, so I was wondering what actual pilots thought of their jobs.

Hey Scott.....Just remember, when you reach cruising altitude in your new mini, you will not be free to move about the cabin.

Nice to meet you.

What's the top speed on the Mini, 140? I saw 623 Knots tonight with a 187 Knot tail wind going east at 33,000 feet. That translates to 717 mph........

SMOKIN'!!!!!!
