2006 Cooper S Checkmate

Ordered a 2006 Space Blue Cooper S

LSD
MFSW
HK Stereo
Checkmate

Expected delivery is late March. Going to replace my recently sold 1995 BMW M3.

Thinking about adding a 15% pulley. Who is a reputable installer in San Diego?

Joe

Very sharp!

Spotted a Space Blue S Checkmate here in Austin a couple of weeks ago ... even though it was at dusk and consequently poor light, one could still see how sharp looking that particular car is.

Highly recommend the heated seats. I know, I know...it's So. CA...why do I need them...but I did order them anyway and low and behold use them all the time! Also the Sport Package, although I am not sure if that comes in the Checkmate......also rear fog...and if you want sun...the Premium Package!

Thanks for the comments. The madeness has already begun. I swear I must check the status of my order at least twice a day.

I went with the U stripe because I liked how it tied the silver roof and Checkmate graphics together. Plus it nicely draws attention to the supercharger scoop!

The Checkmate package includes all of the amenites of the Sport Package with a few cosmetic differences.

Congrats, love the SB/S checkmate. I was torn for weeks between that and the PW/B. When I ordered there was no way for me to see the SB in person so I went with the PW/B, but I still have a soft spot in my heart for the SB

very nice...space blue & silver is great.

It must have been hard to let that M3 go! I actually thought about one of those instead of my MINI....i choose wisely!

good luck!

My Avus Blau (blue) M3 will be dearly missed, but I am equally excited about my new MCS. I've always had an affinity for smaller cars (my car prior to the M3 was a 2nd gen Normally Aspirated MR2).

Now that I have two dogs (a mutt and a white boxer), the MCS will be a perfect all purpose car. I would dare not take them in the BMW!

I was also considering Royal Grey and Dark Silver, but I thought the Space Blue would be a nice way to pay homage to the M3. :-)

I have a SB/S non-checkmate MCS, with U stripe. I really like it, but it's impossible to keep clean. Welcome to the SB/S club!

You are so right. The rear and the sides attract dirt like nobodys business. sometimes my front end and top are clean while the back is almost brown.

TooTall I'm only 5-7 but I wash my checkmate every other day. Granted the coldest its been is 38 degrees at night 50-68 during day. Its been raining every other day since I got my HyperBlue Checkmate on 12-27-05. I have at least got a coat of wax on it.

A nice coat of wax and a California Car Duster worked wonders on my Avus Blue M3, so I'm acustomed to the care a color like this requires.

Ah, but not as good as you once could have gotten. IB was the real deal.

Same deal. The negative slope on the lower sides is a magnet.

I picked mine up 11-5 and was able to get 3 coats of Zaino on it, then more around Jan 1. I can't wash every other day, but if I could, I would. I have washed it when it's been 16F, but I now wait until it's above freezing because I don't want to put salt on the driveway unless I have to. Looking forward to April.

Curv, a nice coat of wax and a California Car Duster doesn't cut it in Minnesota. It wouldn't get the stuff off after a 100 yards.

If so, was the increase performance noticible? Everyone loves the Alta Intake, but the increased cabin noise worries me.

Yes, post delivery. I went with the JCW for that same reason: I did not want the extra noise all the time.

So far some extra (minimal) SC sound below 4500, and I do not notice a big change at 4500+, sound or performance when the flap opens. However, MINI USA said I need a ECU reflash to take advantage of the larger intake opening which is 70mm (stock is 50mm). The software just came in for the '06s. Should go in in about a week.

It's funny though, searched NAM for anyone else (pre '06) that was told you needed a reflash, and it looks like I am the first.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the main reason for the ECU flash was to have the computer open the flap @ 4500rpm?

Does the JCW intake replace the intake inlet hose too?

Prior to the '06s, everything I read said you didn't need the reflash to make the flap open. The service advisor said my flap was opening, but I needed the reflash to maximize the effect from the larger opening. I am going to ask them to double-check that my flap is opening when I get the reflash later this week. Check back with me then.

No the JCW does not replace the intake hose, it replaces the divider at the back of the inlet (firewall) that allows air to enter from the base of the windshield.
