NEWBIE on LSDs...

Is there anything maintenance wise that I should be concerned about if I get the factory LSD? i know its a clutch-type so would that require an eventual change of its internal componenets? please enlighten me!!

Nah, will probably last longer than the engine. Does make some growling noises though....not bad and worth it.

Cheers

When I get my MINI (with LSD among other options) I'll probably follow a slightly accelerated schedule concerning LSD fluid change intervals (and from habit/experience, engine oil/filter services too).

The LSD can see higher temperatures and keeping the fluid fresh can only help prolong its life.

I'm not advising you go crazy, but if say the fluid change interval is 90,000 miles, you might instead have the fluid changed at 60,000 miles.

If you don't put that many miles on your car, then you might consider changing the LSD fluid every 2nd or 3rd year.

Sincerely,

RockC.
