Jersey's NEAT

. . . . for those who haven't seen this. . .

If your MINI disembarked the INTEGRITY today in Jersey City, you're now at the Vehicle Distribution/Processing Center known as the Northeast Auto-Marine Terminal (NEAT). http://www.neautoterminal.com/

. . . "isn't that little speck there my CAR?!"

Jersey Bill posted his pix in another thread. I guess he didn't want us all to feel bad since his JCW MCSc got here ahead of everyone else's. Not that he's taking it out in the blizzard...

Funny I was thinking the same thing! And us folks out West are still a couple of weeks away from delivery. That should keep this thread alive even longer. I wonder what the longest Production Week thread is? I was also wondering are our cars the first to roll off the production line in 2006?

That's what I've been wondering too...I'd like to think our cars are a new breed of the cars that came after the plants updates to machines and restructuring - maybe our cars have a little better build quality to them ... and maybe a little wishful thinking on my part

Hard to say how the build quality will have been affected by the plant changes - I guess it depends on whether you are a glass half full or glass half empty person. I've been happy with the build quality of my wife's 2005 and am hoping Emma is at least as good. Anyway, I have a tentative appointment for Friday to pick up my car from the dealer - my MA did not have any official status from the VDC as of last night and she is off today and tomorrow.

This is painful being on a K Line ship. While most of you are able to pull up fancy maps of your ship's progress, I get to stare at a schedule on a poor website that hasn't updated in 6 days. For all I know, Ingolstadt has capsized in the middle of the Atlantic. :impatient

well if nothing else you will be the test bed to this since you will have one from each. And certainly build quality could improve if that was what their goal was when they decided to restructure...I'm sure some machines needed retooling if you will, and could certainly help… But also from what I understand part of the closing was to instill machines to help speed up the build process… which in turn could go either way on quality.

I was tracking the Franconia on the Port of Charleston's website. I didn't try to track it en route because it was hopeless ... I did call K-Line with my info one time and they were very helpful

Anyone have an AIS Live account?

I found over on a BMW forum that NYK Line ships were sometimes on this feed. I signed up for an account, but haven't gotten the registration link yet.

So does someone have an account and if so, so you see the SIRIUS LEADER coming up the coast of Mexico towards LA?

Those of us west of the Rockies need to know...

thx,

Well, just got an answer to my question. Came into work today to find a voicemail from Mike from Classic MINI. Julie has left for a new job.

This is big news isn't it? From what I hear, Julie was a pretty well known MA that people all over the country ordered from

Pick Up Plan

Here's the plan for today ...

Apparently my roof rack won't be installed in time for pickup because they have a special tech that does those, and he isn't available this week. Doesn't bother me, if someone is drilling into my roof, I want it done right

My wife and I are gonna take the train up to Lake Bluff where Knauz MINI is. My MA is going to pick us up at the train station (about a mile away from the dealership).

We'll check out the car, review the order specs, and then take care of the paperwork and drive the baby home!

Yeah. Its big. I'm wondering why I wasnt emailed and there also hasnt been an announcement.

After I was told I couldnt get Space Cloth (after it was promised) I kept my order with Classic just because I'd heard such great things about Julie. I should have just ordered from Motor City MINI (my local dealership)

Your delivery process sounds so fun! A train ride plus the delivery. Very nice of them to pick you up as well. When will you take it back in to get the roof rack installed??

Stefanie,
At least Julie carried your order through the parts a less experienced MA would have messed up. Delivery is the easy part

When we go into the dealership today, I'm gonna make an appointment to get the roof rack installed. It will probably happen sometime next week.

I saw the Tartan Red cloth/leather at the Chicago Auto Show for the first time in person yesterday. It looked great, I'm glad I ordered it.

I'll probably post some low-res cell phone photos tonight, and then take some better ones tomorrow during the day.

That's a bummer. Julie was great and I was looking forward to meeting her in person. I was still working out a number of details with Julie, guess I'll start over with whomever.
