New Aux Gauges

Hey 1st gear'ers. Just installed my aux gauges that mount next to
tachometer. wow! it dresses up the dead space around the steering wheel area next to Tach. I don't have the Ralley pack gauges. Just a single Tach. So it looks great. It took about 1.75 hrs to install. Me and my friend who is a Mini tuner did the work. The guages list for $325.00. It consist of a Volt Meter Gauge. and a Supercharger boost gauge. With a new mounting bracket, and all necessary kit to install. This is actually posted from one of the Mini guys. My Setup is the same.
It really glows @ night. I don't have anywhere to post my picture. So i borrowed his. This is something for you newbies that want to dress up that dead space around your steering.

See Ya Guido

Looks Schweeeeeeet!

I have 2 questions for you:

1.) Do you have any idea what the MINI Dealership would charge for that installation?

2.) How difficult was the installation? I don't know if I would be able to handle it or not, so any insight you could provide would be helpful.

Thanks, Jonnieoh

I like the pod for the gauges (looks a lot cleaner than a lot of the aftermarket options), but I'd rather not have the Stewart Warner gauges... Anyone know if the pod can be bought seperately?

Gauges

Uber. The Pod comes with the kit.

You really should not knock the SW gauges. They did a really clean .Job. It also says cooper S on there.I don't think you will find any other guages out there. With the same . Its a clean kit.

John. The Dealer gets 1.5 hrs for ther job according to Factory work instructions MINI. so if the delaer labor rate is say 100.00,your looking @ $150.00. But Most dealer ship I know here in southern cal are @ $115.00-120.00. I did the Job myself . I am Factory Mercedes Benz Technical specialist. So it wasn't to bad. Anyone can do it. Just have to get correct work instructions. They come in box.

Yes, it can be purchased empty. Alta sells them.

I wish I'd get a response from Promini to find out if their pod/gauges are plug and play with the 06s.

Thanks, 10851CS... I'll check Alta out!

guidmini- I don't have a problem with the SW gauges in particular, but there are a couple of reasons why I'd prefer something else:
-I'd like to have an oil pressure gauge, not a voltmeter
-I converted my dash lights to blue, so the SW's might not look as good as some of the other gauges available out there... they're still an option, though

I like the OEM kit for the how clean it is and the fact that it says Cooper S on it, but I'm looking for a something a little more suited for my tastes.

EDIT: unless I'm looking at the wrong site, the pod that alta sells is their own porduct, not mini's... I'm looking for someone who sells the oem piece to hold my own gauges. I think I'll give my dealership a call...

Nice

Those look great, but my only complaint is that I allready have the OEM gauges down low which have the voltage reading already! That would be a perfect compliment if it were Boost and Oil preasure as opposed to voltage....

Nevertheless...It looks beautiful

If the kit in the pictures are the MINI kit for the column you can't get the pod seperate. Look at the posts under gauges from months ago. The lighting on the factory kit is sub par, very hard to see at night on boost gauge. Mini has got to get rid of the volt gauge and put oil temp or pressure as an option for these . The pod is great compared to any other but as of yet you can only get the whole kit.

Well that makes me feel a bit better (not). I thought is was just my install that had poor lighting on the boost gauge. Now it seems I have to live with it.

Get the gauges from Classic MINI. I think they only charge $260.00 for the kit. Call Jayson at 440-205-6404.

Um, mine are fine. They are l.e.d.'s. I think they are brighter than the regular light bulbs.
