A funny thing about my MCS!!!
So I can save the $300+ dealer charge to replace a tire.
Jack it up, put it on a jack stand, take the wheel and the discount mail order tire to the local tire shop for a $30 mount and balance...
Voila, save a hundred bucks or so

It was my impression that the first models actually did not come with a jack. There were a few optional configurations, including the "mobility kit" with a bottle of green slime, and a portable air compressor.
Also correct me if I'm wrong, but apparently UK models require some extra gizmos such as safety triangles, a green reflective vest, and a fire extinguisher. They might also need the first aid kit as part of their inspection process. (Maybe someone can confirm this)?
Regardless, runflat tires still need to be replaced when punctured--they just let you get somewhere to do it first. That's why you need a jack.
Plus, there are brakes down there that need servicing from time to time too, and some people rotate tires on their MINI.
A bunch of folks have winter tires and summer tires. A jack is a very crucial thing to omit from any car regardless of tire technology, and MINI commenced including one, at least here in the US.

Maybe the JACK is irrelevant.
Well, my MA said that the gov'mint requires them to include a jack. I didn't get one with my Corvette (it came with a can of fix-a-flat and a compressor instead, since I got the model without run-flats) so it may be a BMW thing.

Remember that the base Cooper with 15" wheels has no runflats - and all Coopers have a spare. Thus for them the jack is useful.
There was a time when MINI tried to omit the jack on the S, saving some money no doubt. But there was so much upset that they re-introduced it.

I remember the look on the sale reps face when i asked about the spare and jack.. he just kinda gave a "well here's the thing" type look. he found it just as stupid. seeing the jack just adds extra weight on the MCS. I guess they figure if your stuck on the side of the road you might as well do something with your time..

I get you JRZY.
There are just a lot of people here who assume first that all questions are serious and jump in to provide an answer. It's great when that's what you're looking for, but not so much when you're just being facetious and want to joke about a MINI quirk. There are also others who just joke about everything (who, moi???), even serious questions. BUT... we need all types here!

Yesterday in the gift thread chows4us tried to give me a Dragon shift **** for x-mas. Not so great, as I have an automatic.
