Production Week 37 (09-12-05) Support Group
It's definitely a slow boat. I looked it up on the Maersk page and they said it was good for 19.9 knots, but their schedule looks like 8 days Southampton to NY. It would not surprise me if they've cut their speed some to save fuel. I think a liner makes the same trip in 4 days.
Hmmm... Been tracking my gf's car and the ship website says it is on the Honor and scheduled to land in NY on the 30th. However, the OL was just updated and says that it is "en route" and now has an estimated delivery date of October 5th. Does anyone know if that is the day it should arrive at the dealer or the date she can pick it up?

jdmarino, I am unsure why the factory options are not listed. Mine just shows the basics of MCS and color.
Hartz, take your VIN from the OE and go to the WW site and put it in there. Add your VIN in the cargo id box. To find the cargo id choose customer care, cargo tracking then auto cargo. This should give you details about your ship, when your MINI was loaded and when it is expected in an American port.
Then add some time to that date for the VDC and shipping to the dealer plus their prep work. It may be just a few days or a week or more. It all depends on how the moon is aligned from what I've been told.

I'm not so worried about the factory options not appearing - I have heard others complain of that. But I want an estimated date darn it! :impatient
This is like the worst part of the wait. There's nothing to do but wait for the big ol' boat to arrive, now. No movements from the paintshop to final production. No loading of vehicles on the boat. Nada. Just sitting here waiting like some proverbial fisherman's wife, looking out over the sea for a ship on the horizon.

Thanks SB - I've been to the WW site, and figured out (with help from the kind folks here) that it's supposed to arrive in SC on 10/5. I guess you can figure that it'll take a week or so at the VPC, and then another week or so to get to my dealer here in MI. No biggie, really.
I'm actually totally impressed with the ability to track this as well as you can. I know some folks here have expressed frustration, but man - try tracking an order from GM sometime and see what you get. This is really quite clever by comparison.

Nope - no EDD for me. I think she'll get here when she gets here and not a moment sooner.
Red, is your car getting off at NY, or heading on to SC? 10/7... makes me think NY? Just trying to extrapolate for my own purposes.

Daisy gets off in NJ and then travles down to Richmond, VA, I wonder if they give you an EDD about a week before the car is delivered to your dealership, because I was estimating after I got on the Maresk Teal that the car would take about 3 days to go through the VPC and then 3 days to travel down to Richmond. which would have made the edd about the 6th so I was pretty close.

I just hope that my car did make the Emden and isn't still sitting there waiting on WW like their site says. The dealer says K-Line has it....but I'll be happy to know when it's at Charlotte.
Hav - did you call k-line to see if it is on board the emden? If it is, you would be on the same bill of lading as mine, which is KKLUHAM100617
I called them, and they looked up my vin and confirmed it on board. She was very nice about it (unlike the folks at WW, who told me they were not supposed to talk to BMW customers!).
It's worth a try.

It's sort of pathetic..WAY more than the 1st time on this rollercoaster with my 03 S. I've printed out the Atlantic Basin Chart and I'm tracking the boat via points now of where it is.
I can barely contain myself

I've checked the website 3 times already.
Any idea how long from port to dealer to me?
The Port of Charleston shows the Emden is due in a day early - on Oct 3rd!
My MA said that it usually takes 2-3 days there, before transport to the dealer. I'm in Minneapolis, so she said to expect it around the 10th

The Maersk Teal hasn't updated since April 2005. I guess could be a good thing. It will keep me from watching it constantly. That's something I would most likely do.
