KDO,

Which port is your MINI scheduled to arrive in? New Jersy or South Carolina?

Triying to figure out where MIB will come to.

Just got confirmation today that my MINI finished prodution. Following the links to the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site it appears that I'm booked on the Topay Ray.

Yes, I'm getting my MINI from South Bay MINI, so it will come in through Port Hueneme. So far I haven't seen anyone posting in week 40 that has a ship assigned yet bound for Port Hueneme.

As of this morning here's what I know:
  • 10/3 - ASK MINI confirms that my MINI arrived at the port, but as of 10/7 still hasn't been handed over to WW for shipment.
  • 10/7 - The Maersk Wind departed Southampton bound for Port Hueneme, leaving my MINI to watch from the dock.
  • 10/20 - Based on the schedules, the next opportunity for my MINI to catch a ship (Isolde) bound for Port Hueneme. No VIN recognition on the WW site to confirm this though.
  • 11/12 - The day the Isolde is due into Port Hueneme.

I checked last night and it looks like my Mini is on the COURAGE and according to WW, the courage has left South Hampton. Yeah! I think the saddest part is that my Mini will be sitting lonely and quiet at the dealer for several days before I can fly in to pick it up.

hoopi: welcome to the week 40 thread. Where are you getting your MINI from? I see your location is California, but I don't show the Courage coming to Port Hueneme.

I was exceedingly annoyed by the CA dealer markups and wait times. I basically had a choice of either paying $2500-3000 of markup or waiting up to 6 months for a northern CA Mini. Or I could buy a used (2004) Cooper S for only a $2000 more than a new one. A local dealer has a 2004 Cooper S, no sunroof, 25k miles, and the "sale" price this week is around $26,400.

So I'm picking mine up in CLEVELAND of all places! The good news is I have family about 5-6 hrs from there, so I'm going to pickup my Mini, visit my family, and then take a "Mini" Vacation over 5-6 days and drive back to CA. Yeah, I know it's crazy. But my flight is only costing my $129, and gas will be probably $250-300. So I'm still saving a lot of money. In fact the difference in savings allowed me to upgrade to an S as well. I put a lot of miles on my cars, so having an initial 2k on it is no big deal for me.

I'm sure there may have been some place closer to get one, but when I talked with Julie at Classic Mini she had EXACTLY what I wanted, it was already built, and was waiting for transport. AWESOME! Maybe I was just REALLY lucky, but it was cool to be able to call Julie and in 45 minutes I went from "looking for a Mini" to scheduling a flight to pick one up!

Awesome. I purchased my first MINI in New York, flew out to pick it up, and drove it back. That was back in '02. This time I'm buying locally from a dealer at MSRP.

Darnit. I was excited too. I was on the courage, now it looks like I'm on the patriot too. Oh well, other people have had worse than a 2.5 month wait, I suppose I should be exicited. Too bad I now don't have a car for the vacation I scheduled to have the last week of October.

Thanks DiD. Actually, I was suprised when I started looking at buying a MINI here in NY. I figured there would be markups since this is such a densely populated area with a relatively small number of dealerships. With all the talk of huge markups and long waits for cars on the west coast I feel pretty lucky - no markup and no wait either here in NY .

Just checked, and I have been bumped to the Patriot also. This is my third ship assignment, started on Integrity, then Courage, now Patriot.
