Newbie question: "settings"?

I just placed my order for an MCS. (I got the 6-speed without knowing how to drive a stick and plan to learn "late in life".) Having glanced at the manual on-line, I get the impression that there are many settings (e.g. follow-me headlamps) that the dealer can make. What's up with that? Why the dealer and not me?

Is there a list of suggested settings that I can have the dealer make before I take delivery? Or is there a HowTo on hacking these (I could not find one, BTW)?

as far as i know there is no way to change them yourself, but here is a thread that has the list as a document. Needs to be stickied IMO.

There should be a school that teaches people how to drive manual. I'm surprise there isn't any in New England last time I searched.

Formula One Driving school http://www.formulaoneinc.com/service...rvices&UID=106
has a lesson just for me: 1.5 hours to learn the basics, given that you are already a licensed driver.

I took it yesterday. I only stalled when when there was a long line of cars behind me

Happily, the instructor said I was a natural at knowing when the engine wanted to shift (Honda Civic with the A/C on).

I gotta tell you: I was mentally drained after the lesson. I really had to concentrate on coordinating more limbs than I'm used to. But everybody says that after only a short while, I won't have to think about it, just do it.

absolutely... and once you get it down it's just like riding a bike! I hadn't driven stick in about a year or 2 and when I went on the test drive it only took my second shift and everything was back to normal... I still blame the car for the first shift... how was I to know how quick the rev limiter came up on the MCS? lol!
