Big Delays at the West Coast VDC?

My new MINI arrived at the port a few days ago and has yet to be released to the VDC. My MA says that 6900 cars have arrived and are waiting to be processed since July 21st and it could be quite a while before my baby gets through the queue. I presume this is BMWs too?

I offered to go up and help out but apparantly I have to be in the union

Same thing happened to me almost 2 years ago when I was waiting for my 04.

It took 3 weeks from the time the boat docked till mine was at the dealer.
Mine must have been the last MINI off the boat.

As Donna said "Patience" would be the word of the day. It is especially frustrating knowing that it is only a few miles away, but untouchable.

I know someone who ordered from the same dealer and had the same production date. His is scheduled for delivery to the dealer tomorrow so I would hope that means mine isn't far behind. But who knows!

Mine is in the same boat, been stuck there for quite a while, but the MINI site just told me that my estimated delivery date is 8/18... does anyone know is this the date that the VDC releases it to be transported to the dealership, or the actual delivery date at the dealership? I'm a bit unclear on that point.

Weird as I just talked to Port Huneme where the MINI's come in and they stated the boat was being unloaded today and most of those vehicles willl be loaded onto trucks tomorrow AM, including our MCSC. But our MA did let us know that the boat that arrived July 29 still hasnt made delivery of all the cars from that load... Crossing fingers...

Delivery to the dealership, but once the MINI is in transit, the MINI site cannot give you any other ETA's only your MA's dealership can.

Well, not sure if the backlog is resolved or I just got lucky but my MINI is now at the VDC!! Estimated delivery to the dealer being Saturday.... My '02 is being sold tonight so looks like I won't be MINI-less for too long.

Thanks for the info Itsdchz... I was hoping that, my EDD got pushed back from the 18th to the 20th... so I'm right there with you uk. What does the VDC actually inspect for? How detailed to they get when checking the car over? Or is it just start the car and drive it on the truck, if it makes it its good to go...
