is $23,750 a good price for a used 2005 JCW MCS

It has 6000 miles. The only options it has besides the JCW package is H/K sound system, fog lights, cold weather package, metallic paint, multi function steering wheel and a roof rack with bike rack. It's mint condition. I can get a new MCS with Xenon, multifunction steering wheel and chrome interior package for $21,950 from my local dealer. Not sure if I should pay $2000 to get a used JCW car or not. Help me think this out. Thanks.

Given the price of the JCW kit I think it's a pretty good price, especially if the MINI is like new.

is it better to buy new for $2000 less or buy the used JCW?

Well, it's about $6K for the JCW, including installation, so that is a good price!

That is a great deal in fact I would stay quiet about it and jump on it immediately, go for it However I strongly suggest you be allowed to take it to the nearest Mini dealer and have it checked out first. But really this sounds like a fabulous deal, I am jealous What color is it?

Is this used JCW MCS a car known to the dealer selling it? Does it have papers that show the JCW kit was installed officially and correctly by a dealer? Is the warranty for the car and for the JCW kit intact?

With a price so low I would question if the JCW kit is completely installed and if it is legitimate or was it obtained through other means and installed without warranty intact.

If one buys a MCS with HK and other options (16" wheels???!) and adds the JCW kit it is going to be worth over $24,000 used with 6000 miles. Check the accident record and for water/flooding damage.

If it checks out as legit then the used JCW MCS would be a great deal.

It’s a fantastic price for a 2005 JCW. If you think you can live with a used MINI, I’d jump at it. If you must have a “new” car, pass on it. But regardless $23/24K for a 2005 JCW is a good price.

In fact at that price I’m thinking there must be something wrong with it because that’s less than I paid for my 2002 MCS with a few options new.

This is not only great advice but you would be foolish not to follow it........That seems like too good a deal.

The dealer selling it is another brand new car dealer. It was traded in at a high end dealer. The car comes with the JCW certificate with the serial # of the car on it. The carfax is clean. It's a one owner car. About 8 months old. I assume the factory warranty would transfer to the new owner, right? Oh the color is Hyper Blue with White Roof. Actually, I found a 2004 JCW MCS with all 4 packages, leather, nav, extra wheels, h/k and some other things with 7600 miles for $24,000. I just didn't want a car with a sunroof(I am 6'2"). Thanks for the advise. I'll post some pics when I pick it up.

Dude, you must live someplace where they don't know a whole lot about MINI's because these prices that you're seeing are rediculously low. I would still take the MINI you're looking at to a MINI dealer to make sure that the install of the JCW kit is in the system as being installed by an approved dealer

To put in very easy terms at that price you are essentially getting the JCW upgrade for free and that's nothing to pass up, but you really should get it thoroughly checked out by the nearest dealer, better yet get it checked out by the dealer who originally sold it.

If I decide that it's not the car for me, would I be able to recoup my original costs including taxes and tags?

If it is a car you like the looks and options of and you follow all the advice given , I'de say it is a great deal, and yes I'feel you could resell w/little or no loss, but if you like the car now, wait untill you learn how to drive it! I dont think you will want to sell soon. I bought my 04 JCW/MCS w/ An Areo Kit, 3100 miles, a march build, July of 04 and paid more than what you'de be paying, and in 30 days I turned down a small profit two different times.
Hope this helps, Joe. The kit will have a 4 digit # under the hood on the left in plain sight. It will be regestered w/MINI. I'm 6'2" also and have the sun roof, and love it, even in Texas, and there's plenty of head room, not even an issue, about 65lbs I beleive.

I saw that. I also have the certificate with the JCW # and serial number of the car.

There should be a link that says "update photos" in the gallery section. Let's see the new toy!

Rarely, if ever can you recoup sales tax when selling a car. There is no inherent value in the tax you are paying, and the next guy pays it, too. (unless you sell it in Oregon, or some other place w/o sales tax)

Why would a dealer sell it to you if you could turn around and sell it for 7-9% more?

I'm 6'1". What does height have to do with it? But I'm also in FL, and can understand not wanting a sunroof. (When will someone come out with an opaque replacement sunshade? Instead of the mesh?)

Anyway, that car sounds like a DEAL. These dealers are clueless about the significance of the JCW package. Kelley Bluebook has no way to add it as an option, so you're getting a $6K option package FREE!!!

Even some private owners don't seem to know the value of it. I bought mine from the original owner for $20K w/ 18K miles. He had paid $30,229.27 for it 18 months prior. He had ALL the original paperwork, JCW Cert. of Auth., original sales order, window sticker, etc.

IMHO, the car above was an even better deal, but this one is killer too!!! Jump on it!!! Any used JCW's are scarce!

Get it, and enjoy the ride!!!

Congrats, wise decision! Just try to get the grin off your face!

worky works

Does seller state why selling??? find out, and don't settle for vauge response...

sounds pretty good to me, I would get it checked out at a dealer to confirm JCW... and buy it if real deal...and then get oil and filter changed with MINI oil and filter, without resetting service indicator....

My minimally optioned 2005 MINI with Works kit, JCW suspension, LSD, metallic paint, xenons and rear fog light was $28k and change (pre-tax)...

The price is higher now...maybe, they are reading the posts!

BTW, Mashngo, if you don't know this already, you could get a coopersflag for sunroof. It cuts down the amount of sunlight coming into the interior via the sunroof and it lets you customize your MINI even more.
