Waiting for My MINI

Hi All,

Just thought I would send out my first post to say hi. My Pepper White MCS, sport, LSD is "awaiting transport" in the fair land of bangers and mash, strawberries and cream and Lucas Electric (please tell me they are not making the alternator on my mini ). Can't wait for that first drive up the hill.

TT

Not to worry - Lucas doesn't make the alternator on your car - just the ECU!

Just kiddin'.

Congrats!! My LY/B MCSa arrived port of exit today. I need to find out exactly which line/boat it will be loaded to Port Hueneme, CA. According to the W&W website, the earliest departure from Southhampton to Port Hueneme is 8/18, arrival 9/12. If that is the case, my mini will be sitting and waiting at the port for another week before it gets to the boat!!

I live in the bayarea, but ordered from Mini of Murray at Salt Lake City. Our plan is to fly out there and take a road trip back home. I think it will be another 5-6weeks before I get to see my mini.....

Waiting as well....

First post. MCC is "Awaiting Transport"

Black on BRG
Cold Weather/ Premium/ Sport PKGs
Manual

Are there any good intake upgrades for MC? Everything I see seems to be geared toward the MCS.

Once your car is on the boat, how long does it take to get to the West Coast? I'm in the Bay area. Speaking of which, has anyone dealt with East Bay Mini? They seem good so far.

Has anyone created a checklist of sorts that you should run through before driving the car out of the dealership? Most everyone seems to love their cars, but there seems to be some fairly common issues.

Hey Tahoe,

Congrats on the order! Nice spec! Can't wait to see the pics when your baby arives!

It takes about a month from from Southampton to the West Coast, then another 1-2 weeks for it to get to the dealer and have them install any dealer-options.

www.MINI2.com has a lot of great info in their FAQ section about wait times, as well as a good checklist to run through at the dealership once you recieve your MINI.

Where'd you go to order your MINI? Who's your MA?

Thanks for the replies and the warm welcome. Nice to see more new owners! I will post lots o'picts just as soon as she comes in. Like OHUI2001, I will have road trip picts from the drive back from the dealer. Just a quick trip up the coast from LA, can't wait. I just checked on miniusa and the status of my little pw/blk wonder has just changed to "enroute" .

Question:
How does one get the exact tracking info that I see others posting, like ships arival dates etc....?

Any help would be great as I need to plan the time off to go down there and take the PCH up the coast, mmmmmm twisties.

Sorry little "t", no info on East Bay other than I have heard good things. When I called they had a year wait, so I contacted South Bay Mini in LA, shorter wait = longer drive. Oh well.

TahoeT, Here's the checklist that I've compiled so far:

1) Verify purchased options.
2) Check paint, bumpers, panel fit for imperfections
3) Check wheels for curb scuff/imperfections..
4) Lock/unlock doors and boot via remote and keys.
5) Open/close windows via lock.
6) Confirm both windows drop just before doors open.
7) Check windscreen/windows for stress cracks.
8) Check both interior door panels for fit and finish.
9) Check dash fit and finish.
10) Check seats for imperfections.
11) Check rear seat fold.
12) Check interior panels, headliner for imperfections.
13) Check both seat adjustments and rear passenger access fold/slide.
14) Operate all wipers. Xenon headlights - operate headlight washers.
15) Check window operation.
16) Check door locks (interior toggle).
17) Check exterior mirrors adjustment and heating.
18) Check radio/CD operation.
19) Check on-board computer functions.
20) Check ASC on/off toggle switch
21) Open bonnet.
22) Start engine, listen for unusual sounds.
23) With engine running inspect engine compartment.
24) Take a drive, check shifting, pull to right or left, unusual sounds, heater/air conditioning operation.
25) Upon return, and with engine running, check engine compartment for any leaks, splashes, etc.
26) Heated seats
27) Check glove compartment door locks and unlocks.
28) Tire pressure
29) Believe it or not, check each tire for proper rotation direction
30) Check programming options have been set correctly
31) Fluid levels (oil, coolant, brakes)

uhh oh... two Tahoes

lower case tahoe, which is me, and Tahoe_T. Oh well.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I ordered through East Bay Mini. I don't know that I have an MA yet as the car has not arrived. Thanks for the check list. I'm busy prepping my garage for the the mini's imminent arrival. The deal with my better half was if I sold my two classic cars (60 KG Conv. and a 51 Ford Custom) I could buy a new toy.

Hope to have her by late Sept.

yep, two tahoe's oh well you can just call me TT I guess. I am off to South Bay Mini to pick up the car. Should have it tomorrow morning Looking forward to the trip home. Hey tahoe (hmmm I feel kinda like I am talking to myself... no you don't...) at least our cars will be different even if our handles are the same. Mine is pw/blk:smile: I had to get rid of a '66 Sprite to get mine so I feel your pain. Good luck on the garage prep.

I will be back on Sunday with pics!

TT

Tahoe,

I feel your pain during this waiting period. I ordered my MCS w/JCW (Space Blue ~ solid color) about two weeks ago. I have a production number that states the week of 3 October and according to my dealer I could be driving it by the end of October (I'm working here in Germany, so shipping doesn't take that long). Anyway, congrats on your new MCS and maybe we'll see some pics after you pick it up. . .

Later Dude,

Cecil,

A JCW, nice Germany must be a fun place to drive a MINI. I bet you will have a blast. Got the car on Saturday. Great drive up the coast and over HWY 88. Got the car back home with 600 miles on the odo. Only 650 to go until it is done with the break in period. I thought the wait for the car was long, the next 650 mile is going to kill me . The car just wants to go, go , go. It was an exercise in patience getting it home slowly.

Good luck with the wait, only 7 more weeks.

TT
