A Seriously "Old" Guy Checks In

Here's a guy thinking he's old at 47? Well, I guess so, if he is comparing himself to all you 20-somethings. But that 47 year old could be my son! And that would make you 20-somethings my grandkids. I think that is great. 42 years ago I got my introduction to Minis by way of a fraternity brother with a Cooper S. What a great little car.

What's neat about the "new" Minis is that it appeals to a really broad cross section of folks. Oldtimers like me can dig them and remember the originals (which were actually pretty rudimentary). The young folk can get a really decent car that will respond to their desire to drive well. And I am sure that we all enjoy the grins we get from children and others who can relate to this little phenom.

I agree that you are as old as you feel and I still feel 18, but with well over 40 years of experience! You youngsters remember something I first heard on the racetrack many years ago: "Youth and exuberance will never overcome old age and treachery!"

Let's motor and keep flashing those lights.

Flashing my headlights at every mini i see has become second nature. I have a problem of flashing too MANY times cause i get so excited. :P

Best car ever. Finally one to make me feel perfect size.

I'm "somewhere in my 30's", and not giving my exact age

But the point is that we have MINIs in the first place, and no matter who paid for them, just enjoy them for what they are, and take good care of them (especially if someone else bought it for you)....I agree though, that mostly around here, I've seen people my age or older driving these things, and not too many young ones (Short Bus would be one exception around these parts)

Just motor and be happy dammit!!!!!!

TheOldMan has not posted on this thread, but that is his tag line!! I think you are older than him though!
In the end, old age and treachery, will outsmart youth and vigor….

I assume your username matches your yellow and black MINI? Back in the 70's my friend had a classic Mini, yellow with black stripes (not racing stripes...all over the car!!), that we all called the "Bumble Bee".

Woohoo I love this thread! It seems that we are all in love with Mini's no matter our age from 16ish all the way to... well old... but we are all kids when we sit in our Mini's.

Grandpa here at 51+ years.... I have a MCS on order. This will be the 35th car I have owned in 36 years of driving

I love cars and this one should be a fun ride. I just sold my 04 Z06 which was an awesome machine... but too much for the street. Just too much traffic and cops out there. So I am going for the street legal go-kart experience. Looking forward to the MINI experience.

Stealing my thread again but... only becasue my car is now "En route" as per the Owner's Lounge and people keep talking about which boat they are on and such but I can't seem to find any info about that. When I call askmini I get that it is "In transit" Do I have to call and talk to a real person? Do I have to call my dealer?

I bought my 04 LY/W MC 2 months ago, used with 11k on the clock, from Crown BMW where it lived it's entire life as a courtesy car. Since i'm the smart kid that i am, i had zero credit to my name. So my rents co-signed putting me at 5.9% interest. I'm 19, and have already owned my 2 favorite cars. I was the proud new owner of my mini just 7 short hours of boobooing my beloved miata in the sleet.

I've been hanging out with mini clubs in the surrounding areas for well over a year now, without a mini, and haven't felt more welcome anywhere else.
i finally found my first post! and i didn't realize it was Josh that started this thread, haha.

Whats my age again?

I am 26 and I bought a slightly used 2004 Mini Cooper S. This is the newest car I hae ever had so I am really excited about getting in soon. I will be on a tight budget while a pay it off because I owe UC Davis $27,000 for my microbiology degree. I am still in the process of building up my career but hopefully I will be able to buy a top of the line Mini Cooper S of the lot in a couple of years.
