Impressed with the 05 MCS Convertible

Impressed with the 05 MCS Convertible:

I purchased an 05 MCSc last week, delivered Friday, and have been pleasantly impressed. I used to have an 03 Cooper which sold on Ebay in no time. A few points :
- the harmon kardon radio is much better than i expected. the tunes sound great at low speeds, and decent at 70's, with the top down.
- the handling is comparable to the sport package on the mini cooper ('03), yet i have noticed more steering wheel vibration at times with the convertible.
- the 1200 mile break in period is WAY to long of a time to not go over 4500 or 95 mph ! ! !

Nice report...thanks!!! I've been very impressed with the '05 MCS in general, but I'm sure it's a whole different experience with a drop top. I want one!!!!!!

I just drove one the other day for the heck of it. It was way cool!

Already thinking that I may have to trade mine in and get one at the end of the '06 production line! Being in South Florida makes it very easy to want a droptop!

What was the spec of the 03 and how much did it sell for?

That's what I like to hear. People excited about their Mini convertibles. Can't wait until I get to order mine... counting the months, counting the months, counting the months...............

Damn, I wish I could say that I'm enjoying my car right now, but with the weather we're having I'm not missing anything.

That said, I quoted gbsher because I'm counting the days, counting the days, counting the days as my mini was delivered to SC last Sunday. "Estimated" delivery is 5/08/2005. Now I'll have to start driving by Classic Mini every night to see if it's in the parking lot...

For me, it was the '05 Convertible that convinced me to get an MCS. I went with a hardtop, though. Still, when I drove an '04, I have to admit, I was disappointed; the '05 has changed everything. To me, the aught five is the culmination of everything MINI/BMW has learned so far.

Actually, I think that we '05 owners owe a lot to those who took the plunge and bought early production MINIs. Your input has obvioualy been heard, and BMW seems to have responding--the windshield crap notwithstanding.

Yup, the '05 is really a special car.

I agree with Johnny L: I test drove a hardtop 04 MCS and a convertible 05 MCS, and the difference was substantial. At the time, I attributed the differences to the fact that the hardtop 04 seemed like a beater demo, but I'm now thinking it was due to design choice differences between them.
