I placed an order about 2 weeks ago for my new 2005 MCS. I can't wait to get it! I've never been more anxious in my life!

So here's the question...how long does it normally take to get the paperwork with the production number on it?

I called my dealer yesterday, and needeless to say he sounded like he forgot! I almost strangled him through the phone! However, I spoke with him a little later and he told my that my car was slated for the May build, within the second week and then if they try to expidite it, I should be receiving within the first week of June otherwise the second week.

How's this sound? What do you guys think?

I know the last two accessories are in shop installations but how long does it usually take from build to dealer?

Hey Nick! Welcome to NAM. Great specs for the MCS. For me I got the production # the same day as placing the order. I suppose it depends on the dealer and what slots they have available? Not entirely sure.

 

I never got any paperwork at all, but the day after placing the order my dealer called and emailed with the production number. I placed my order April 11, Nugget started production April 21st and is moving to the paint shop today. :smile: Production is scheduled for completion the week of May 2nd, and my estimated delivery date is the second week in June. Possibly earlier because of the HK problems (I stuck with the stock stereo.) pb

 

I believe my car was ordered from the same dealer as Kellzir's (Classic) and I too received my production number almost immediately. This was accompanied by lots of detail about specs and accessories and when the cut off would be for changing specs. I was even able to change the color choice and received, as usual, a cheerful email. Very good communications (Julie at Classic). This was the complete opposite of the almost sullen dealer I had placed my order with originally, but whose lead time was 10 months.

Once the production number is in hand one can track the car's progress (which I failed to do). My car has been ready and at the dealer for awhile, but has been awaiting arrangements for group transportation from Ohio to California. Since just prior to ordering the car I have been lurking on NAM and delving into the archives. So I have been MINI-saturated and not overly anxious to receive it (perhaps good therapy for anxious newbies). However I anticipate the delivery (of 7 cars?) will be an entertaining event and it would be a pleasure just to meet fellow purchasers and NAM enthusiasts in the area who drop by to share a MINI moment.

 

Hi Nick! I placed my order with Julie at Classic on April 18th and got my production # right then and there. My understanding is each dealer gets 5 'in production' #'s...but I could be wrong. I've been having waves of excitement ever since! My date of completion is 05/06/05 (birth date?) with delivery the first week of June too! Another possible ship mate! The MINI USA site seems to be a few days off. Julie was kind enough to share vital information with me. I haven't tried calling ASK MINI yet. I've been keeping busy with the MINI manufacturing site...cool stuff!

Sweet ride you have on order Once I gave Moritz Mini in Arlington the go ahead and signed the order sheet and faxed it back i had my production number within hours, the end of the same day. Communication with them has been awesome and they've quickly answered all the questions I had in regards to titling, etc, since im buying the car in TX but driving it back to AZ where it will be registered.

Looks like we'll be close to the same delivery day as mine goes to production early-mid May also!

8 is a propitious number! This shall be a lucky car during the year of the rooster (which, in Chinese tradition, commends people to reevaluate and avoid making big changes--guess we are making MINI changes ). Excellent. At the very least our rendezvous should be interesting.
