Finally Home!
Finally Home!
After a long, drawn out ordeal (no fault of my MA or dealership) which I won't go into here, I finally took delivery of my MINI earlier today! My MA, Jason at Roadshow MINI in Memphis, was an absolute pleasure to deal with. After we got all the paperwork out of the way, I drove off the lot in my new car for the 200 mile trip home. My poor mother was stuck driving behind me in her clunky Chrysler Concorde, lol. We stopped for food on the way, I got lots of looks pulling into and out of the parking lot. I guess we'll have to get used to it!
In my utter excitement, I completely forgot to grab my camera! (geez, and I call myself a MINI lover?) So all I have is a snapshot my MA took. I should get a copy of that tomorrow. My dad will be here next week with his uber camera, too.
In my newfound motoring joy, I could almost forget I have classes!
I'm so tired, and yet I want to run to the garage and take Zooty out for another spin or three. lol

Welcome Home, Zooty!
Congrats! And lucky you having a 200-mile drive home! My dealership is too close; consequently, I have spent alot of time on MapQuest planning on different routes to take Micia on once she arrives. She isn't due home for another 6 weeks, so I love the vicarious enjoyment I receive from reading these posts!
Did anyone else spend hour upon hour getting their garage ready for its new occupant or am I completely obsessing? I check the Owner's Lounge daily (okay, several times a day) and it still shows being 'On Order'! Ack! I am obsessing, but thankfully this appears to be a common disorder with MINIacs!
Once again, CONGRATS on Zooty!

Hooray for YOU! You are truly psyched!
I'm so thrilled for you and so jealous to boot! I was told I would be able to take delivery on mine tomorrow but <sigh> she's still awaiting a truck in NJ it turns out so it will be next week instead. Oh, the painful, torturous wait!!!!
But not for you!
Congrats!

And having a 200 mile drive home was probably the most fun you've had in a car in a long time eh? Many more motoring miles and smiles to come for you........  Donna

Thank you everyone! And to those who are still waiting, trust me, it's worth it! I knew that minis are fun to drive, but still, I thought when people said they looked for an excuse to run errands, they were exaggerating. I found myself up early so I could take the completely unnecessarily long way to school, via a few back roads. And then of course I drove all the way through campus before finally going to my normal parking lot.
The drive home was a pain, but no fault of Zooty's! We didn't leave Memphis till just before dark, and driving at night with all the headlights of other cars is a major migraine trigger for me. (poorly adjusted xenon headlamps on other cars, ugh) It did seem much, much shorter than the trip south, though. Probably because I was speeding.
Pictures will be forthcoming sometime this weekend.

My MA called me yesterday afternoon at my work and began the conversation with "we have a bit of a problem"
My heart sunk thinking that my car had been crushed or burt to the ground but then he told me the problem was that "MY CAR HAD ARRIVED"!
I was told that it had made it off the boat on Monday and that it might be as much as a week and a half before it made it to the Dealer but here came the call that I had been waiting on for two months. The trouble now was that It was just after 12 noon and I would not be leaving work until 4:30
. I called my Wife at work and told her the news, she didn't really understand or care
, but after getting home I new that there was no way we could make it to the dealer that night,to much traffic to get thru
. Now I must wait until Saturday morning before I will get to see my Baby but I'm calm knowing that it's in the showroom floor waiting for me
.No sleep tonight!

Time for pictures! I didn't spend a lot of time composing shots, I had just dropped in at the house real quick to pick something up for my mother. Yes, Zooty's dirty, but she don't mind. She had a lot of fun getting that way.
I've put a hundred miles on her today and yesterday, mostly driving in and around town. I never understood the concept of driving because you like driving the CAR until now. I thought people drove to look at scenery or something before.

Zooty is a "Beauty"!!!!
And I know what you mean about making up excuses to do little errands that you'd normally put off for days - when you have a Mini they must be done IMMEDIATELY (and often)
I cannot believe how much I love driving Zooty! I have been averaging 100 miles of motoring every day, even school days! I make the time to motor during the pleasant parts of the day, and then I go home when it gets too cool to drive with the sunroof and windows open, to do my homework. But then I usually go back out for a moonlight ride afterwards.
This is how Zooty has 708 miles in less than a week.
I have never driven a car that did precisely what I wanted it to the way I wanted. Zooty is up for everything I throw at her. The sport seats, although they are not "cushy" are quite comfortable in spite of being stiff, I guess they're just molded so well. I suddenly find I don't mind running errands around town, so my mother gives me bills to pay.
There are three other MINIs that I know of here in my town, all with white roofs, all without stripes, and all of them are rarely seen. When I do see them, they're parked for hours at a time.
Zooty can be seen everywhere, and she has gotten lots of looks, and me lots of questions about her.
My dad came over yesterday to check her out. He fully expected a MINI to just be a cute little car but three hours later he left, repeating to me over and over how impressed he was, and smiling (I let him drive some). I won't knock his car, a Mustang GT, but it's amazing how a little 4 cylinder Mini can feel like it has just as much power as a V8 Mustang.
Sorry for the long post, but I just LOVE Zooty! I can't believe how much, I thought I loved MINIs before, but wow, that was nothing compared to actually having one to drive every day. I have to give up my computer geek license now too, because I'm developing a tan from motoring with the sunroof open.

Congrats
Zooty is a beauty:smile: I see you are in Cape Girardeau. St Louis is only 100 miles up the road. Come join our MINI Club on a rallye. We have one this weekend April 9th
My Sunnie came from Roadshow. I guess that makes Zooty her kissin' cousin

Louie, I've thought about joining the St Louis Mini club. I don't reckon there's one a bit more local. I'll sign up today. I would love to join you all! I have an essay due and test on Monday, so we'll see about me going up there. Thing is, I don't know where anything is in STL area, and I'm not used to driving on more than a 4 lane road, so expect to hold my hand.
Hounddog, Tortuga will be worth the wait. CR/B sounds like a beautiful color combo, and not too common, seems like most go for white with red. You getting bonnet stripes too? I think that would be quite gorgeous on red.

The only other MINI Club close is in Memphis. Hope to meet you sometime:smile: Lois
