Hello from an old bald guy

Hello from an old (47) bald guy! After waiting a year or so the wife and I just ordered a JCW MSC with LSD from D & R in Indy (pretty good on the abbreviations, huh? ) I've lurked here for a long time and found answers to most of my questions by reading the great info. The waiting game has begun, but it's nice to know were going to have a VERY fun summer with our new toy. I've owned several Alfa Romeo's so far in my lifetime, and thus am no stranger to spirited autos. But the MCS test drive was just a whole new level of fun.

We're located in NW Indiana, so starting in April or May keep a lookout for a Dark Silver JCW trying to see how many speeding tickets it can accumulate!

Aloha and welcome to NAM. Nice username!
JCW MCS with LSD? Watch out. Coming through!!!!!

You'll need some suspension upgrades to keep up with your added power.
At least an adjustable rear swaybar. Lowering springs only if you don't mind a rougher ride and lower look. Runflats are already pretty rough.

The runflats will be going away right after delivery. As a matter of fact we ordered with the 16" V Spokes. Those will go into storage to be put back on for winter driving. Since I'm close to Tire Rack in South Bend and have done a bit of business with them over the years, we'll be going aftermarket wheels and non-runflat's from the get-go.

Suspension mods are another kettle of fish. I've learned over the years that I can drive them, but I no longer try to work on them. Justifying the current configuration as it is with my lovely wife has been work enough. It will be a while before any other mods will take place.

And thanks for the warm welcome. This has always seemed like a great forum.

A_Sr.

P.S. Any other sponsor mentions I can make?

Welcome!

I find it funny that your "old bald guy" subject line has gotten 3 responses, while "be nice to the new girl" has 15!

Hello from another not-as-old-as-you (36) Bald guy who just picked up his Dark Silver MCS w/JCW!!! You are going to love it!!! My wife and I also waited and it was worth it! As for the speeding tickets... I gotta buy a new radar detector because this car is FUN!!!

BTW, I own a TVR 280i, the only car I know of that was more a headache than the Alphas...

Thanks to all for the warm welcome! Remember the old saying that youth is wasted on the young? I think this car is giving us the ability to at least rent a little of it back.

Wish I was 52. Just turned 64. What kind of sucks is that the mind is still ready to most anything, but all of the parts are starting to wear out. This does not effect the need for speed. Just traded in the 02 MCS CR/W for a 05 MCS CR/W. Have the intake installed, the exhaust installed and a MTH download. The 19% pulley is waiting for a warm day to be installed. Then maybe 380cc fuel injectors! I used to think that 50 was, 60 older, and 70 real old, but since it is now only 6 years away, I am going to have to reconsider! Oh well, SS in 18 months.

Ken

Greeting from an even older bald guy. I'm 54. You're a baby pal! I just got my new 2005 MCSa this week!! How's that for a late mid-life crisis? Enjoy and welcome aboard.

PS: We need an over 50 room here - we can call it the Mini Metamucil Room and make the type size extra large LOL)

Resurrecting this thread as I found out via ASKMINI that we went into production yesterday (March 22nd)! So here's the general spec of the car:

DS/DS MCS
Chrome Line Exterior
Premium Package
Cold Weather Package
DSC
LSD
Front Fog Lamps
Gray Leatherette w/ Gray Doors
Chrome Line Interior
Anthracite Dash
Anthracite Headliner
H/K Sound
"S" Rubber Mats
JCW Tuning package
JCW Door Sills

As stated in an earlier post we stayed with the 16" V-Spokes which will come off for use in winter. As it looks right now we will probably go with Kosei K1 TS wheels in silver and Avon Tech m500 215/45/17 tires. I'm sacrificing a bit of grip to go for a slightly quieter ride, but remember, I'm old!

So whatcha think?
