A Long wait to motor....

Hi,

I'm new here (obviously ), but am happy to announce that I'm excitedly waiting my new baby! I've got my order in for the MCS, which, If I'm guessing right, will be delivered around the end of June.

I'm an auto-crosser and am looking forward to driving my little purple haze car this summer and hopefully if things work out, in Nationals. As a female Driver, I am excited to have a car that will stand out and beat 'dem
G-Stock guys! Yes, I have ordered my car with performance upgrades including limited slip diff. I'm currently searching for a set of wheels and race tires.

Lately, I've been getting volunteers to "try out" the car, when I finally get the car. Female racers get first drives... and the desperate males who LOVE mini's but don't have one of their own...have agreed 9 months in advance to "dress the part" .... I'm thinking they will look fabulous with their purple tutu's and helmets! rotflmao!

I'm glad to be here at NAM, to pass the long months yet to wait! So, as one more Oregonian waiting for my mini, I'm happily waiting to motor fast!

Be sure to post photos of the "drag" racers!

No offense intended, but it seems like Purple Haze (Black Eye Purple in Europe if you didn't know) was added to the MINI color list to attract female owners. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

Some might think so but I disagree - I could easily see that color on a muscle car. Also when you see some of the wacky/ugly colors the mod crowd paints their cars this one looks tame

Welcome and congrats FlyinGrape - your Mini shouldl be the ideal auto-x car

Purple Haze (or whatever the name)

I chose purple haze because it's my signature color! I want to stand out in the crowd and be different. I've not seen too many choosing this color. With the purple lid/ sunroof and mirror caps, with black bonnet stripes, I think it will look strong, fast and classy! The Royal blue color was my second choice.

I'm still debating about the white lid and white bonnet stripes...but it seems a lot of others are going with that combo. Hey...why run with the crowd when you can be way out in front of it!

Well, those were my thoughts on the matter....just called and left a message with Rasmussen to find out what NUMBER I am...I started at 150..... and was 70 right after Christmas. Hopefully, within a month, my build order can be finalized and given! whoo hoo..

Happy to join the elite motoring group of Mini owners and racers!

btw....anyone got a lead on some race wheels? Suggestions... I want to get them purchased before the deal get's signed...therefore before the big $$ drop. lol

My wife picked purple...

I wanted all red, to match my Miata, but - she talked me into PH! I saw a PH at the dealer, and it did not strike me as "PURPLE", more a very dark, rich blue that looked purple in the right sunlight. A very nice, complex color.

BTW - my MCS arrives next week! I cant wait!

I totally know how it feels to have to wait. I ordered my loaded 2005 MCS on 23 July 2004 and it was produced the week of 15 November 2004. Because of shipping problems, I will not receive my MCS until 28 February 2005. The reason it is taking so long for my car to get to me is that I ordered it while I was living in Italy through a local dealership and they were that backed up on orders. I could have purchased one through the a dealership when I moved back to the states at the begining of August, but I chose not too because I got such a good deal through the military sales program . I would have had to pay an extra $3,000 to $5,000 for the car if I had bought it in the USA.

PH is an awesome color. I think it looks tough with the bonnet stripes.

Purple Haze Drag Racing Team

Grape,

Sounds like you ordered a really cool Mini to fly around the streets and motocross tracks.

Waiting is sooo hard to do for sure.

I have never been to a mini motocross but would have to see your flyin' grape drag racing team when it comes to "fruition".....really kewl idea!! Sorry for the bad pun-fun

I think that I better focus on keeping mine on the road when I take delivery....and if you see me on a motocross track, I have undoubtedly taken a wrong turn and please guide me back to the on ramp.

Cheers.

Rick

Purple?Blue?Red?White?

Does color really matter?? As long as your in a MINI!?? I say not! We need to get the whole rainbow of MINI's out on the road! I am anxiously awaiting my Chili Red MINI Cooper S to make it's way across the pond. Hoping it will arrive just as the last of the snow is melting away!

Update...

I called the dealer and I have moved from #70 on the list to #47. Evidently....I'm about a month out from the call to finalize the details :.

Thanks to all of you for your support and help in my wait period!!! With Auto-cross season starting just a month away... I can't wait. I'll have to drive the ... eh hem.... Neon, until it gets here! That way I'll drive in the same class and keep my season standings. Now, won't that be a change!

I love the pun on the "fruitation' as well as the one about the "drag racers!"

I will post an update soon, as well as photo's of the MCS, the purple tu-tu'ed racers and any other goodies I end up. I've been surfing, looking for magnets and clings to adorn her while flyin' around the curves!

Congrats on your color choice

Welcome to NAM

Are you making it to Vegas? I'll bet you could bum a ride if your MINI is not here in time.
