Hey folks, I've been a MINI enthusiast for a long time, took the plunge and bought a BRG 04 Cooper S about five years ago. Enjoyed the car tremendously but sold it awhile back due to a family situation. Realized instantly what a mistake that was, and vowed to have another someday. Fast forward to last July, I spotted a Pepper White 05 R53 on Marketplace that ticked all the boxes...reasonably priced and within striking range. In the meantime, I'd been keeping my eye on a neglected Clubman on Marketplace that kept coming down in price. Eventually the ad was updated to read "now it won't start" and the price was what I considered reasonable for a project.
So there you have it. I have a Volvo Cross Country wagon that shares daily duties with the R53, and the R55 is an ongoing project that I'll eventually put on the road. Are these cars addictive? You betcha!!!
Anyway, glad to be here. I'm reasonably competent with tools and prefer to do my own maintenance. Recently purchased a Creator code reader to better communicate with the cars. I'm going to be querying the collective brain trust here frequently as I need to know more about these second gen cars. Hopefully I can contribute some along the way as I get more competent with them.
Thanks for having me!
Butch
