08 R56 Cooper S Cold Start Issues

Hi, new member here! Had my 08 MCS (94k) for 13 years and done all the work myself. I know the N14 very well but I'm stumped and need help. Got a cold start issue, stalls, throws multiple cylinder misfire codes then rights it's self and runs fine. Only have issue if car has been sitting for a long time. I've installed the following to solve this problem: New Valve Cover, New Spark Plugs, New Fuel Injectors, new coils and cleaned K&N air filter and it's still doing it. Could it be a camshafts sensor or vanos? I'm stumped here...

If the car has sat for too long gas could be stale.

Can't help but wonder about the battery's health. While the engine starts a low battery can cause a too low of a power glitch at engine start that can result in issues.

Also, a vehicle that sits can attract rodents. Often the first sign there is a rodent problem is the car/engine manifests issues seemingly out of the blue.

You report misfire codes. Any other codes? Pending codes? And it is quite common for a vehicle's electronic controllers to log proprietary codes. But for these you'll need a MINI specific scan tool.

Hi RockC, I forgot to mention that I have a new battery too. When I say the car sits for a while, I'm talking 4-5 hours, not months and the gas is new. Other codes I got were P2188 Too Rich bank 1, 2766 Additional Mixture adaptation and D365 Message Error: DME/DDE. I'm beginning to think it's electrical, not mechanical. I was told it could be the HPFP but I put a rebuilt one in from China about 2 years ago, maybe that could be failing but when the car is running it's tip top. STUMPED.
