Crying over my mini, is this normal? 2017 Mini Convertible 30000 miles

My spring broke in the gearshift.
I DID NOT take it to the dealership. I used Foreign Exchange they DID assure me they could FIX IT.
So I had them do the work. Cost about 1500.00USD
The car DOES NOT go into SPORT OR ECO any more. It shows on the console but the Engine doesn't engage.
Im not a gear head. I am a female.
thats probably why I cry
Ive an appointment with dealership in a week. hubby wants me to give FE a chance to make it right. I don't think they can? everything seems screwed up on the car, the volume control doesn't work anymore.and a few other minor things that ARE DIFFERENT!

I will take all advice here

If you could get FE to admit they did not properly fix the gear shifter issue and correct the problem at no additional cost, take it back to them. $1,500 is not a small amount and they did not do a good job.

I would not bet they will agree to that. And if not, go somewhere else. I would trust the dealership or another highly rated repair shop to do better than FE.

Sucks that your mileage is well under the warranty limit but the car's age is over the limit.

Sorry to read about your issue, hope it all gets fixed soon and doesn't cost too much more!

all this..
I took it back and clearly upset they agreed to fix it. However since its so messed up, I hesitate..
I just don't understand why it won't go into sport mode. They tried to say it was the battery. hubs thinks its a bad part. I *think it has something to do with CODE. This shifter works fine, the display says its in sport mode. the car is drivable. when i put t in sport mode it does nothing with the engine. That was my favorite part of driving my car and Im NO racer.
I have the old shifter with the spring fixed but they won't put it back in.

Do they have, and did they use a code reader, to try and determine the problem?

Do they have experience working on MINIs with these transmissions and shifters?

I'm gonna say they did not have experience working on them.
They must have had a code reader. because they reset the code.
what I have learned is they don't have a way to update the software and the problem seems to lie there, being that the radio is effected too.
so far, its been at the dealership since thursday no word on it yet.

You show no idea from where you live (neither do I) but here is a website that may help you find a reliable MINI shop. We've a dynamite shop in our area and if the guy tells me the sky turned red, I don't have to go look.

Yes sounds like something was not coded correctly.

If you get the part replaced and then they still don't fix it you can try a local MINI dealer, it might just need coded. Or they can read the system and see what's up. Try to see if they can help with the cost at MINI.

Not too many places I know of other the MINI dealerships. We can help you with the parts and finding technical stuff.

*Most BMW independent places can work on MINIs. If they work on VW, Audi..etc they will not know the systems that well. Newer BMWs and MINI share systems.

Update** Looks like the spring in the gear shifter is more common. You will get this on the dash with the automatic transmission.

Ok so in the meantime I had a break system error code pop up :(
I was taking it for the oil change, so I got the breaks and roters done.
also a new battery (found a coupon on mini website)
Mini said that FE didn't do anything wrong but they did a software update and the car is running properly over all.
I don't know what the problem was as the Dealership said FE used the right part and and that they didn't do anything wrong..
I think they buy parts from that dealer so that maybe why?
