2017 F57 Convertible Hello From CT!
Have had my 2017 MINI Cooper (3-cyl) Convertible for a couple of months now!
(I believe that makes it a “F57” designator)
(Auto, Tech, Wired, 17” Runflats, Sports&Heated Seats)
LIkes:
o Very nice performance for a 3-Cyl (my other 3-Cyl is a 2001 Honda Insight). Not missing the “S”.
o “Sport/Mid/Green” modes that actually make a difference!
o Runflats still include compact spare & tools (another reason I like the non-S).
o Runflats (Pirelli) not too bad so far, actually.
o Overall go-kart handling
o “Manual” shift mode displays gear # when selected in automatic mode.
o Super-powerful seat heaters
o Rear-View camera w/ dynamic guide lines, absolutely essential if you’re getting the convertible.
o Bluetooth integration works well.
o Navi works well.
o Selectable mood lighting. Driver door handle logo projector.
o Convertible top works flawlessly, so far.
Misses:
o Shoulda gotten the “Comfort” pkg - remote-top-closing-from-outside would have been nice.
o Can’t have one rear window up or down without the other.
o Can’t play videos from phone on display - audio only.
o No “hidden glove box” anymore, above regular one.
o With top up, hard to see traffic light when stopped at intersection. I’m 6’2”.
o Non-functional rear red fog light (didn’t get them), so why is it there?
o No dipstick. Getting used to this.
o ~10,000mi oil interval - seems intended to get you (or actually, the engine) just past warranty period at minimal maintenance cost to BMW.
o D.I.Y. service-unfriendly. I guess it’s a BMW thing.
More to come…

Congrats. Post up some pics.
R52 Gen 1 MINI convertible owner here. Heated seats and the wind deflector are a must.
