Interested in owning a Mini

hi all, the prompt said to post here, so I am looking to buy a 2010ish Mini Cooper S convertible, automatic.

I found one and gave a deposit, but it has codes and issues.... I will post the details and see if I should follow through on the purchase. In any case, a mini s, conv, auto will be my next car almost certainly..

later

If it is running other than the codes. First thing I would is the timing chain an guides. Gen 2 are really bad for timing issues causing head an piston damage.

from my research, this could be a lot of things. PCV, HPFP, others. Its a beautiful car and I am making a big gamble my guy can fix it reasonably.

I wonder how much a timing chain replacement cost is? at 150k with no known history, I may do that anyway.

Parts are not bad. Labor is what kills everyone. If you can do it yourself. Will save a ton of money. I’m fortunate enough to have the tools to do the work.
