MCS Convertible in June Consumer Reports

The MINI is the top rated model in their test of convertibles. The other cars tested were the VW Beetle (Manual), PT Cruiser (Manual), Solara (Auto), Mustang (Auto), and Sebring (Auto). The Solara was the best of the automatics. As usual, they do not recommend the MINI because of "subpar reliability". Their list of highs are "acceleration, handling, braking, fun to drive, turning circle, character, sunroof, easy top operation." The list of lows is "ride, noise, rear seat, trunk, rear visability." Overall, a pretty decent article.

They didn't criticize the cupholders?

That giant add-on must be helping

I used to read Consumer Reports, but gave it up because many of their auto reviews were just goofy.

For example, they wrote that you shouldn't buy a Corvette because it goes too fast. Well, yeah! That's why most people buy them. There's no such thing as too fast!

Anyway, it sounds like they did a decent job on the MINI convertible.

I've got it right here. Was planning to scan it and post...

They say they cannot recommend the MCSC because of "subpar reliability".

No mention of the cupholders:smile: From the pictures, it looks like their test model had the new cupholder.

They did comment on the control layout. They said the center mounted speedometer forces you to look away from the road. They must not have found the digital display on the tach.

Here's a link to a pdf I created. It's not in color, so the charts are basically useless. I guess it's the thought that counts right???

The file is too big to upload... I'll put it on my FTP site and get a link to it in a second...

OK, try this link. It will not work with Firefox, but works with IE. If it doesn't work and you care enough to see the article, PM me and I'll e-mail it to you.

This is an old thread and I don't mean to revive it except that I am trying to decide on an extended warranty. Any additional thoughts on overall MCSc reliability?
