Misfires P0301 and P0302

Hello guys, my R60 had a code of P0301 and P0302. We replaced sparkplugs and replaced head gasket cover. Still had the same code. Switched around the coil packs but still have same code and engine light re appeared after a minute after I fired up the engine. So our next step is to check and replace, if needed, injectors. Not unless you guys have idea what should I do first. For me as a low level home-guy mechanic injectors will be a next high level.

Hi @Countryman2012

I feel and share your pain when I had to do the head job. My immediate guess is the previous owner who was a teenager redlined the engine several times and put 87 octane(regular) which you’re not supposed to.

check out the photos on what I’ve done 3yrs ago just to gain access to the head(NOT FUN). Ever since I’m putting in mid grade gas(89 octane), it is running beautifully ever since and still now.

Just got an update from the shop…they are saying that the piston rings might be the problem now. They did a leakdown test thats why they think it is the rings. 😩

Oh my and shocked 'cuz piston rings rarely ever go. I never heard that rings go bad that soon. How many miles did you say your car has? Mine was 102K miles when the exhaust valve chipped away and broke. Knock on wood my valves are humming away at a current mileage of 132K

She is on her 108k miles. I’m lost too what could’ve been the reason. Looking for an engine now and will work on it maybe next week depending on the space in my friend’s shop.

Urgent engine issue that needs to be checked out ASAP.

Of course, could be a computer error but you do need to have it looked at pronto.

Means don't drive it until you have it checked out...normally means serious misfire and possible cat meltdown....plus other damage
