 Hey all. Yes, I'm new. And I have a MINI!!!
How I got my new baby:
I got my MCS for Xmas/my Birthday/graduation. [Today happens to be my 18th birthday, btw] It was a complete suprise. About 4 months ago, I went on the MINIUSA site and built my perfect MINI, because one of my father's employee's supposedly was looking into them. Little did I know, that instead of using it for reference for his own MINI, he handed it over to my parents, who then faxed it off to many MINI dealerships around California. A little while later, one of the dealerships called my parents back, and said that they were willing to get it for me. About a week later, they called and said that they had recieved it. [One of the hotshots had apparently looked at my specs, and thought that they could sell it, so they ordered it as soon as they got the fax.]
It was sitting at my dad's employee's house for a couple of weeks, waiting for Xmas to get here. Xmas morning, after all the other presents were opened, my dad told me to take the trash out [giftwrap, mostly]. So I did, and when I turned the corner, there was my MINI, sitting in the driveway with a big red bow on top. Apparently, the first thing that came out of my mouth was "Yes!" After walking around it, I moved the ribbon over, and just sat in my new car. Two seconds later, my sister came running out, and screamed "F-ing S***!" My parents had been waiting around the corner, and when they told my sister that they were waiting for a scream, she ran out. My little brother followed her, and was speechless. My parents then came around the corner, beaming. I sat in my car for a couple more minutes, and then got out and gave them each a huge hug.
What she's like:
- 2005 MINI Cooper S
Options:
- Electric Blue Metallic paint
- Black Leatherette w/ Black Interior
- Combo #1: Premium
- Combo #2: Sport
- Door mirror caps and roof in body color
- Rain-sensing windshield wipers with auto dimming rear view mirror
- Navigation system
- PERFECT!
Yes, she's a manual.

What a terrific story! Does she have a name yet? And a big welcome to NAM! Once you've perused the site and gleaned all the automotive stuff, come play in Off Topic!
 Oh yes, please post pix of your new baby!

Ooooo! What a gift! I would never want to top it! What great parents!
However, I can bet that in a week or so you'll want to change your screen name.
Atleastitruns is for if you own a VW Bug from the sixties. Atleastitruns will turn into something like Ohmanithauls!

Welcome to the community.
Your mission, should you choose to accept: clock 1250 miles on the odometer before arriving at Dragon Run 2005. The cross-country drive to get there should do it with plenty of miles to spare. (I'm assuming you live on the left coast, since your parents contacted CA dealers to place the order for your baby.) Hope you can join us there! Woo Hoo!
Here's a link with general information about the Dragon:

P.S.- If the identity of your parents becomes public knowlege, they'll be fending off solicitations from wannabe adoptees!
