Appreciate the pictures

Sorry for this thread start, found the answer in FAQ's...

Hello,

I've posted a few times but I'm a real newbie at this. I think this first gear forum is a great idea.

Our Mini will arrive by train any day, but I still have to wait over a week until all my dealer mods are completed before we can bring him home. Final eta is Dec. 18, which will make this the best Christmas present ever.

I think I have stretched my dealer to the limit of his abilities, and probably his patience -- but I will have exactly the car I want. And, I will have the car I want only because of these forums. 90% of everything I know about Mini and its options came from reading and searching posts.

A really important part of the decision making process for me was seeing pictures. We wanted a classic-looking car and the interior mods were the toughest to make because we had no idea of what the choices look like. The literature the dealer gave us was very limited and the MINI.ca site doesn't give you hardly any information on what is really available.

Thank you to everyone for participating, I'm indebted to your passion and commitment to this excellent car!

GrumpyGills,
Great to hear from you and sounds like your MCS is really packed with features. Nothing like having a super deluxe version MINI. These cars are really easy to modify and while the choices can be bewildering, you can really go to town and stand out.

Be sure to check out your local mini club so you can share your set up and make them jealous.

We're on the Sunshine Coast so the nearest club is a ferry ride away, but I've sent my cheque in already anyway! Got to do what little I can.

Delivery date is now confirmed for the 29th, when my salesrep is back from holidays. We were nervous about having all the mods done during the Christmas season when everyone's heads can be distracted with other things... But we told them to take their time and do it up right. We have to take a day everytime we go into the city.

Once it arrives I will post LOTS of pix and I'll also scan in the pix of the original 1967 mini that started it all for us.

Ya, there's going to be a correction to either the CD changer or the iPod I'm suspecting now too. My sales rep is investigating whether or not they cancel each other out, access-wise. The CD changer was factory installed but he said if the iPod doesn't work with it then he'll credit it out. How sweet is that!?

Even searching for as many reference pix as I did I still will have an element of surprise with some options -- I don't know what my shifter **** is going to look like. I've been pretty adament that I don't like the squashed dixie cup that Mini gives standard and no shots are available to me for what we ended up ordering. I have a plan B but I don't know what that looks like either.

The whole telephone integration Bluetooth/armrest/steering wheel was a bust too. My dealer even tried to expedite a MFSW w/T into Canada for me. I loved the hands-free telephone with steering wheel access that I had in my 540 and I'm not a fan of the hands-free BlueTooth attachment. It didn't matter in the end because we don't get digital cellular where I am -- we're hard pressed to get any cellular reception at all. I loved the satellite phone my Saab had (On-Star, great peace of mind and reception just about everywhere), so we went with a satellite phone system for the Mini. This ended up being surprising cost comparative to regular cell pricing. 'Cept my phone won't bake bread like the new cell ones do.

We're trying not to count sleeps! Yet.
