The day I brought it home, June 3.
I made my introduction post last evening, and received a nice welcome and request for a picture of my Mini. If this works, the photo will appear here. I found the car photo on Facebook Marketplace late (11:30 pm) April 31. The little car reached out and grabbed me and wouldn't let go. When I found it was located at a dealer just 10 miles up the road, I became excited, then reality set in. I retired for the night, and fought the urge to go see it until noon Saturday, when I told my lady I just had to go see a car. She went with me, and though the dealer closed at 4:00 pm, we kept them there until 5:30. The results of that meeting are shown above in the photo.
That looks like a great MINI. Welcome to the forum. It looks like a great Florida car, however, you will really appreciate it if you can find some winding roads up the road in a state with some hills.
Post any questions you have about your new MINI. The members of the forum have been great at answering any question, big or small.
It's been years, I was stationed on Key West, there was and still is an active sports car club. EVSCC, look 'em up. We even made it up to Sebring a couple of times for track day with instruction. They might be able to point you in the direction of some fun motoring.
most 'clubs' have dropped web sites and forums (which cost them $ to maintain) and use <free> FACEBOOK GROUPS today ....
in Florida a good place to start is the group: Sunshine MINIS
{they still maintain a web site at SUNSHINEMINIS.ORG but is it seldom viewed and mostly maintained for 'historical / archive' value (lot of good maintenance stuff here from GEN1 days)}
In Tampa there's the FB Group: The "Tampa MINIs" Motoring Club

Like you, Mrs saw an R-59 on the road one day and said "what's that" ... unusual statement from one who's not really into cars
a lil while later (in 2016) we found (on the web) an orphaned, never sold, 2015 R-59 S manual .... and she bought it the next day . . .
she's going for a record of highest percentage time with top down (we also live in FL) and "love my little car"

I'd love to challenge her on that. There are only four conditions which will cause me to run up the head and I'll share, she's welcome to adopt any or all.
1. It's raining
2. It's snowing (an unlikely condition for her but you never know nowadays).
3. A bunch of drunks throwing empty beer cans in the back seat and didn't invite me.
4. My co-pilot is loudly whining about being too hot or cold and I can't hear the super charger.
I hope she enjoys many fun filled miles of topless motoring, after all topless, motoring IS motoring at its best.
I love the roadster, both posted here are beautiful and make me jealous. Congrats!
Speaking of top down percentage; the 3rd gen vert has a lifetime "open counter" and I love that silly gimmick for pure bragging rights. Did the 2nd gen 'verts have a feature like this?
It really bums me out to see people driving convertibles in MN on perfect weather days with the top up. I had a 2018 Justa 'vert as a loaner for a weekend in January and I managed to rack up ~8 hours of top down motoring. You should have seen me going for night drives in my choppers! =P
