New to the forums! (also a few questions)

Hello, fellow Mini owners!

I am new to the forums, and I come with a few questions for you.

Recently my 2010 Mini was declared a loss by my insurance company due to a careless driver on the road (not me!). So now I am in the market searching for a new Mini, and I would like to hear what you think of the following:

1) What models should I stay away? I understand that 05-06 are good and 2007-2010 are terrible, is that true?
2) Mini Cooper S or no S?
3) Manual or automatic transmission? My former Mini had a manual transmission, and I loved it a lot!
4) In terms of mileage, what should I be aiming for? My previous car was left at 87k, so I would be looking for something similar or in the low 100s in terms of mileage.

Any information provided will be appreciated!

Thanks

Welcome to the Forum. I'm driving a 2004 MINI Cooper S MC40 with a 6-speed. As such, I'm partial to the R53 (supercharged) and the sound it makes. I would stay away from an R53 if you're not mechanically proficient. Others can weigh in on the turbo models which, when modified, can make more power than mine. Since you've already been a MINI owner, you know that the experience is less about the acceleration than the handling. And, of course, the older the MINI the more maintenance will be required. Good luck on your search.

Try and get a 2011 S or newer. Both automatic and manuals are strong.

Hi and welcome to NAM, MiniCorgi!
Sorry to hear you Mini was trashed! Always sad to me, no matter how it happens! Mini owners hate to see a lost Mini!
If you are not too mechanically inclined, buy the newest one you can afford. A 2013 S would be a great choice. I always look for the manual, as they are the real fun. With that said, I live in the country and have no real traffic to deal with!
