New mini owner traded a Miata.

We picked up our Space Blue/Silver 06 Cooper S from MAG in Dublin, OH on Aug. 12th. I don't know if I am a new Mini owner or not. My wife calls it her car. I get to drive it on the weekends. We traded in her 03 Mazda Miata and she enjoys the Mini more than the Miata and is glad that I convinced her to trade. We are both fairly big people (6' and 5'8") and the Miata became quite confining on anything more than an hour trip. The Mini feels like a standard sized car inside. And we didn't give up anything in handling. My wife continues to comment that the Mini "shifts so nice." I thought that the Miata was pretty smooth and I actually prefered the shorter throw of the Miata gearbox. I do have to agree that the Mini's 6 speed manual is great though. RPMs at 70mph is quite a few lower than the Miata. I think that the Mini engine is much smoother and quieter and of course with a hardtop the noise level is much reduced in the Mini. I sure don't mind the supercharger either. We don't miss the Miata like we thought we would thanks to the Mini.

Hi, everyone. I've been reading this board for quite some time, and had no time to actually register and post. But here is my first post, because at some point, after reading so many interesting threads and friendly responces from the regulars here, I felt compelled to at least say hello and Thankyou for the wonderfully welcoming environment that is created by all you.

I live in Los Angeles and bought my first Mini in Spring of 05. Last weekend, Summer of 06, I placed an order for an 06 Mini Cooper S.

Hi,

I've been driving my EBB/MCS for over a year now. I'm old enough to have wanted a Mini back in the day, but never got it.

I think it was worth the wait.

I bought my '05 Hyper Blue MC last August and am really just now getting onto the forum. I traded in an '03 Quad Cab, 3/4 ton, HEMI truck. I will admit that gas mileage was the driving factor in trading in the truck. The MC still gets better gas mileage than my other two vehicles added together! Now, I love the MC. Fuel mileage always amazes everyone I tell. Everyone that rides in it is surprised that they are so roomy in the front and equally surprised about how nice it is inside (I did get the two tone leather seats with the Lapis Blue inserts and the Chrono Pack). I really wanted to get an S, but they didn't have any with the options I was looking for...so I got everything I wanted but the supercharger.
I am hoping that they come out with the Mini Traveller for 08...My son is getting just too big for the back seat. Maybe they'll make an S version of the Traveller (That is if they actually make it...I have heard and read conflicting reports). My son wants his own MC when he gets old enough. Anyway, I am glad I found the site, and I will probably be roaming it for the next several days checking out all the threads and posts.

Jason

Hello folks!

We've (me and the missus) just picked up our 05 MCS Astro Black about a month back. Somehow stumbled onto this site while following the trail of mods! We're in KL, Malaysia! Kinda far off but we're hoping to gain some additional info on mods and maintenance which is less active over here.

Greetings from Maryland ! Just joined the site after stumbling across it while googling for help on on interior modification. No luck on that front so I'll be heading to the modification forum shortly.

Our two babies were delivered in June and we love them both ! Almost everyone prefers my fiance's Pepper White over my Chili Red. Maybe I'll take a vote on the board after I take a digital photo of them (all their newborn pics were taken with the 35mm).

Nice to be here. More to come !

Hi everyone. I don't own a Mini (yet, maybe within a year or 2). I look forward to learning as much as I can before hand so I can jump right in and have all my fun!

Well, I have a few ideas of what I would like, however my budget will probably keep me in the used area. My only rear concern is if a Mini is a good car to learn to drive manual with. I don't want to break it right after I buy it

My wife found learning to drive the manual on her 06 MCSc fairly easy. Of course learning on a new gearbox and clutch can be frustrating as you are breaking these parts in also.
