New from South Carolina

Hello everyone, name is Eli, I just moved into the Columbia/Lexington South Carolina area... I also purchased a well maintained high mileage (260k) 2004 Mini Cooper S... The car needs gone through, but is in fantastic shape for the mileage.
I am hoping to set the car up for occasional track days and possibly autocross, but mostly just a fun driver for nice days!
There seems to be a nice presence of Cooper owners within the South Carolina area, maybe I will get a chance to meet some of you!

Welcome from Atlanta. Love to see you're keeping a higher mileage MINI on the road and going to make it even better.

Hope we can help with your parts and mods as we have built many AutoX MINIs over the years.

Welcome,
I just picked up an 07 Cooper S and am 2 hours away from you. I think I may take a ride towards you for lunch one day. We can compare notes and upgrades.

Thanks for the welcome!
~Way Motor Works, I certainly will be looking to find parts here soon... I started making a list of all of the items that I want to recondition or upgrade so I will probably be giving you a call...
Feel free to make the trip! I would love to meet more owners from South Carolina!

Great, we keep most in stock as we have a huge warehouse.

We have some local clubs that do events all the time so feel free to come over.

Thanks! I am certainly thankful that the R53 Mini has so many resources... I have already spent many hours doing research to give me a better idea of what I am looking at...

The headlights will come back easily, if you can not do it a windshield replacement company will do it for you! It is pretty easy though!

Thank you! The previous owners bought the car brand new, it even has the original clutch! I drove the car and loved every minute of it! It does have a weird vibration under acceleration though...
I did read that the only real way to bring back the headlights is to sand and clear coat the lense. Thanks for the information about the windshield replacement companies!

Welcome from a Greenville R52 owner I did mine using one of the kits. Took less than 20 minutes and seems to be holding up pretty well so far.

I forget which kit it was, but there was a wipe on treatment at the end to prevent them crazing again too soon... Ill check when I get home, I think I still have it somewhere.

I would certainly appreciate it if you are able to remember... Will this work for the taillights as well?

it was the Maguire’s heavy duty kit, uses a drilll and pads to clean up the clouding. I’ve not tried it on my very translucent back lights, I’m pretty sure they are not polycarbonate so I don’t think it’s the same oxidation type effect. And unlike the headlights the brake light bulbs aren’t putting out a lot of UV so it’s a different mechanism at play. I’d be interested if anyone else had fixed the rears without just replacing them ( they are a lot cheaper than the fronts!)

I really like the Maguires products, the reviews on the restoration kit seem to be stellar as well! Thank you for the recommendation! And thanks for the welcomes!! I really appreciate it!
That is the plan to have the car done or mostly done by Mini's on the Dragon, but unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control will have to be in 2020... Even more hopeful for my first track day this fall work the car, but we will have to see..
