2007 Mini Cooper S
2007 Mini Cooper S
Hi all,
I've had my 2007 Mini Cooper S manual in Chili Red for about 15 months. We live in downtown DC and take the Metro to work so the Mini is a weekend car for us. I think we've maybe put 5000 miles on it in the last year. Neither my wife nor I have owned a car for most of the time we have lived in downtown DC (13 years for me and 16 for my wife). However, a few years ago we bought a condo with an undersized parking spot and adopted a dog with an affinity for the beach. As you all know, it's loads of fun to drive and when the weather is right we jet on out to the Chesapeake Bay for some hiking along the beaches.
I recently switched from the 17" wheels to 16" hoping to absorb some of the bumps from the poorly maintained city streets. Seems to be helping so far.
Looking forward to getting great advice on maintaining the Mini.
Best regards,
SnowCker

Hi and welcome to NAM, snowcker!
AS it is getting so few miles per year, you are going to have to replace the rubber bits, like belts, by time and not miles.
If you have not changed the fan belt, I think you should do that right away. You don't want to take the wife and dog to the beach and not make it there or back!
Let us see some pics of your ride!
These little giants are sure fun to drive!

Welcome to the forum and the MINI experience. I am just up the road and make it down to DC fairly often. The MINI sounds like the perfect car for you.
Make sure you get out to the West of town as well and see how the MINI handles in the twisting roads in the hills. If you like it driving east, you will love it driving west.
Post some pictures.
