I'm a new Mini owner and I can honestly say I'm not sure why I waited so long! These are seriously well wrought cars. Fashionable, a bit quirky, and full of personality. I just purchased a heavily optioned 2011 Cooper S Countryman All4 (pauses for a breath) as a third car to replace a recently wrecked Audi A4. We also own a brand new Audi Q7 and my track car, a 2008 Audi TT 3.2 Quattro Coupe. I love to drive and this car, especially with its sport suspension feels all-of-a-piece and very responsive. I would have preferred a stick but the excellent 6 speed auto transmission with sport mode will do me fine. I will post a couple of pictures here as they reflect the car just before I purchased it and also post delivery with a brand new set of Pirelli Sottozero Serie II winter tires on steel rims. Because snow. Which is also the answer for "Why All4" LOL.
One of the things that attracted me to the car was its excellent IIHS safety rating where it achieved a "Top Pick" in its model year and for its class of car. You will see why this matters to us when you look at one of the pictures. That's my wrecked A4. My son was driving it when he was punted from behind by a distracted driver while stopped. The distracted driver was travelling 80 km/h when he punted my son's car right into the path of a loaded dump truck; the same dump truck which he waiting for before he proceeded to make his own left turn. How do we know the driver was distracted? The cop was told by the dump truck driver that moments before the collision he saw the driver's head down, looking at something in his hand or lap.
Here is my option sheet.

Hi from down Windsor, I hope that isn't the new countrymen! I've got two clubmans one, I'm restoring, I bought in Ottawa last month. Round trip one day took two hours to get it loaded on the trailer and out of there.

The forum glitched and I posted only the pictures of the wrecked A4 before I finished editing it. Take another look. I wonder if that Clubman you bought last month in Ottawa was one that I was looking at. A high mileage dark grey 2012 All4? I managed to steal this one for approximately the same price and it's only got 124K on it.
Hmm... don't know what happened but when I first replied there was only the pictures of the wreck, no text. Anyway very nice nee car and hopefully your son is ok and the other driver learned something that day.

Well, my son is OK. Just some bruises and also burns on his wrist from where the airbag deployed and made his board jacket ride up his arm. Both airbags popped, side curtain and knee airbag too! The other driver is in big trouble but that's for the police to decide how far they want to take it. I'm sure he's learned a lesson and thankfully my son didn't have to die for that to happen. As you know, in Ontario fines have increased greatly for distracted driving. It's now an immediate and on-the-spot 3-day suspension of your license and a $1000 fine on the first offence. I don't know how I feel about that kind of power in the police though. They are supposed to enforce the law and not meet out punishments like that. I guess that's for another thread.
I have purchased 3 Gen II MINIs, and all of them have had the moronic, useless, factory dipstick - despite each of them being at least 10 years old with 75,000 miles on them when purchased. I have no idea how the POs dealt with that for the life of the vehicle. In 2 of the cars I'm using the CravenSpeed dipstick, but in the third I'm using this - https://killallchrome.com/product/mi...ck-replacement
