I am the proud owner of a new to me 2016 JCW hardtop 2 door.
I was originally looking at the Tesla model 3 and decided to go in a completely different direction. I wanted something fun to drive and get back into the car scene after driving Honda Accords for the past 7 years.
A friend suggested taking a look at Mini. I had always liked them as an idea, but hearing reports of spotty reliability turned me off. After doing some research on gen 3, there just happened to be a 16 jcw with 19k miles traded in at a local Honda dealer. Reading about their rarity, history, upgrades over the regular S, I was hooked. I test drove it, and took it home 2 days later. Another plus was the previous owner seemed to have gotten it nearly optioned out.
I've already spent the past few weeks that I've owned it lurking so I figured I'd join and contribute.
Keep up on the regular maintenance and driving experience should far outweigh the reduced reliability as compared to the Honda.
Owning a MINI is an opportunity to enjoy the drive and not simply have a vehicle to get you to a destination.
Thanks! The Honda's had their share of issues and I'm at a point in my life now financially where having to spend a little on repairs is no issue. I'm loving the drive.

A thing that most Americans don't do well, is maintaining their cars!
European cars need: to be maintained, to keep them running and driving as new! I have a 12 year old Mini S JCW and it still runs and drives like new and I drive it daily.
This much precision requires maintenance to keep it that way.
