. Hello members , i do not currently drive a cooper but i am in the market for one. Unfortunately my budget is 10,000 U.S.CIF. and feel i could find a clean car. The problem here on the island import tax on cars are 36%.
May i ask what years of production to look for a cooper hatch or cooper S hatch.
Thank you
Ruben

Would think any of the 2002 to 2006 may fit in your budget although I would shy away from any CVT automatic.

2002 - 2006 R53 (Hardtop Cooper S) or the 2002 - 2007 R52 (Cooper S Convertible), great cars and right in your price range.

Motor On!

I would recommend that you consider the later years in the first generation. 2005 or 2006. While the earlier years are great cars also, they got some of the bugs worked out and the later years are more reliable. Also I recommend that you try to get an S over the non-S.

Anyone with the picture you have posted should be driving a first generation Cooper S.

I will be looking out, and thanks for your input. Got to sell my current car first. Suzuki swift sport which has been banned from the USA since 2001.
