I'm new to owning a mini

I live in Albuquerque and was wondering if there is a good mechanic shop for my mini S? Sandia Mini is nice but pretty pricey. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum

Not sure of mechanics in your area, but everything I've found, Mini's are pricier than most other cars.

Welcome to NAM.

Is there a local MINI club in your area as they usually know the good MINI shops.

Thanks

I appreciate the feedback Old Biker. I'm a 62 year former biker myself. Had to hang it up a few years ago because of vision loss in one eye. Tried a 3 wheeler but it wasn't the same . My gut feeling is that mini owners have a private mechanic shop that provides quality work at least somewhat less expensive than the dealership. I could be wrong .

Looking for local club in new Mexico. Thought I'd found a site but when I input website, it took me to a Japanese site that had nothing to do with Mini. I'll keep looking. Thanks

Welcome.

Prices for parts ... so many MODs so little time.

I am always surprised at the pricing of parts, sometimes when you think a part will run you a wallet full of cash turns out to be so much less than you would expect, and on the other hand you are holding what you consider to be a fifty cent part, turns out to be $35.00.

I run into the same thing with my Porsche, a part you would expect to run over $1K is only $250. and one you would expect to be $10. is $60.

I just smile and nod my head open the wallet and pay the man ... "SHUT UP and take my money!" then go home and do the work myself.

Best of luck.

Motor On!

Thanks

It's done me a lot of good to get these responses. It's very impressive to have folks in support of the dealer . Other cars I've owned didn't always get these types of reviews.

I don't mind paying more if the service is good and the repairs are done correctly.

Thanks everybody.

Hi and welcome to NAM!
Most of us recommend finding a good Indie shop that knows Mini Coopers. They are usually less expensive and do good work, but check them out first, as there are some shops that say they work on Mini, but don't know bupkis about them!
If you find a good one, Mini ownership is better!

I found the Mini club site for New MEXICO but the responses I've received have been in support of the Albuquerque Mini dealership, which isn't a bad thing. I'm going to keep looking for an independent mechanic who knows Mini and does good work to see if one exists in Albuquerque . Thanks for your post.

I've found some Indy shops start out a lot cheaper than the dealer until they realize that they can either match or slightly undercut the dealer price and win business. Local dealer has started to price match the indy shops now, and actually offer a far better warranty than the indy shops.

It does make it a more interesting decision when you need service.

2010 2 door S i found at BMW of Downtown Denver with only 26,500 miles on it. Lots of compliments from friends and family. They call the color sparkling silver.
The grill badge "one of 100' was done by Mini of Austin as it was one of the first 100 cars sold when the new dealership opened in April of 2010 and the new owner / car had a track day at a local race track.

It looks great and the badge is not too bad either!
Enjoy your Mini and drive it like you stole it!
