Finally got a Mini John Cooper Works!
This is my very first MC and I did my research after coming from a BMW E46 M3 I knew I didn't want to go backwards, and got a 2013 JCW. Had no idea about the car till a friend of mine came by with an older one and let me drive it. After about 20 minutes of wringing the gears in the twisties, I was SOLD!
So now, I've got the upgrade bug and want to redo the suspension and make it faster, so if any of you have any DO THIS FIRST suggestions, let me know!
I've lurked on the board for a month now and it seems like every single topic has been covered somewhere (in stickys or in different post topics), I just do searches and find a good bit of info to take notes from.
As for my car plans, its going to be a daily commuter, but also plan to do some autocross. Another friend who does AX has got me convinced that this JCW is step forward from my M3 in terms of handling and has already started to advise on suspension upgrades, so chassis stiffening (braces) and front & rear sways is what I plan to get first. Secondary mod purchases will be things to make the acceleration a bit peppier but I only know the basics and will be reading to see what mods will give me more power.
Aside from my long introduction, im here now, and will be asking a bunch of questions! THANK YOU JOHN COOPER WORKS! Love this car!

Hi and welcome to the NAM family!
Congrats on your 13 JCW model!
I have owned too many cars to list, but My 06 MCS JCW has been the most fun since my motorcycle racing days. Every time and I mean every time I drive my Mini, it brings me good karma and keeps me young!
It is funny that more people don't know what these little cars offer the owner. It really is an exclusive car/go kart!
I live in the mountains of southwest Oregon and the twisties abound here. A Mini is the perfect car for this retired old fart! I hope your JCW gives you the joys most of us enjoy! Again congrats!
How about a few pics for us!

Welcome to the MINI and 13 JCW club! Personally I think we got the best year JCW in 2nd gen. Updated N18 engine and R56 body.
After thousands of miles on California twisties I haven't found I needed to modify the suspension yet but rear sway is a good place to start. For more pep, you can try the JB+ for some cheap power, otherwise I'd say go Manic tuning for full ECU tune.

Yes, love that combo. Clark- glad you have the JCW body kit, for a short time on the factory JCWs they did not come with the JCW body kit.
